This will be our first trip to Guatemala and we have decided to stay at the Marriot. Our agency has great rates there for all the room types.
It will just be hubby and I and the baby. So, which room would you choose and why? Standard Deluxe Executive/Concierge Suite Thanks!

Natalie we stayed in both the deluxe and standard room last time (dh wanted to switch to a volcano view room half way through our stay which meant giving up the deluxe room and moving to a standard room...nutty guy). I liked the deluxe room better. It was a little bigger, but the bathroom was TONS better and we got free breakfast with it which saved us money since it was $12/person with the standard room. I have never stayed in the conceirge room, but Jules swears by it and I'm going to try to get it for this next trip.
She says they book really fast though.

Thanks Kelly!
Why does Jules swear by the concierge level room. The website does not say what's so great about it ![]() Inquiring minds want to know! (What would I do without this forum?!?)

Hi guys,
Been to the Marriott a total of 4 times and have tired: The suite - two rooms together has a living area and a connecting door to the "bedroom" The Deluxe Room - Like the previous post states, better bathroom, a bit larger and free breakfast Standard - Well, just like the word says "standard" no breakfast You can use the conceirge service even when you select a "standard" room. I recommend the "deluxe" room to all my friends. Be sure to ask for a "tower" room, they are newer and nicer! Good luck on your trip and have fun.

The Bi-Level Suites are great if it is only going to be you two and the baby. There is a good-sized living room and full bath downstairs and the king-sized bedroom upstairs. We got this room on our visit for our second adoption and it was wonderful. We had them put the crib in the room on the upstairs level and that way when the baby is sleeping, you can be downstairs without disturbing them. Also, there is a full bath upstairs too. Made it nice because you could use one for showering and the other for formula making and baby items. It was also nice because there were other couples from our agency there and we could all get together in the living room area and chat without feeling cramped and having to sit on the beds! Whichever you decide upon, have a great visit!!! When we went, the breakfast always came with the room no matter if it was standard or a suite. They may have changed it by now though, because we haven't been there since Dec. 05.
Good Luck and Have Fun Connie |

Hi,
We stayed on the concierge floor on our last pick-up trip...it was nice and you do have access to the "executive lounge". There is bottled water and internet access in there. Plus your breakfast is included. I think the price per night was 150.00 plus 22%tax, so unless you think you'll use the lounge I don't know if it's worth the price. For this pick-up trip we will be staying in a bi-level suite. There will be 3 adults and 2 children staying this time. I hope we have enough space....I really wanted a Jr.suite, but they didn't have it available the days we needed. Good luck making your plans..it's so exciting to finally be planning your stay!!! Have a wonderful trip. sonya

We loved the access to the executive lounge that comes with the concierge level. However, it is closed pretty much all weekend long (at least it used to be, we haven't been at the Marriott in over a year, tho). So, if your stay or visit is mostly over the weekend, don't bother springing for the extra money!

I stayed in the standard room both visit trips- breaksfast was included, but I had to ask for it when I booked the room. I called the 1-800 number hsked for the rates and then told them I wanted breakfast, crib and the adoption rate. I got the rooms for under $100.00 iwht breakfast included.
The first trip it was me, my mom and Aidan- we had 2 double beds and crib- it felt fine. We hung out in the lobby, on the patio or in the resturants. I visited with friends who had a b-level suite and the stairs scared me- there is no way I would have ever felt safe carrying Aidan up and down the circular stairs. So that is off my list completely.

We stayed in the bi level suite and loved it. As another poster said, it is nice to be able to have space to hang out without sitting on beds and to watch tv etc while baby is sleeping. The circular staircase is a little scary, but not too bad.

We stayed in the Jr Suite on our visit trip and plan to do so again when we finally pick Lucas up. We liked the extra space and found it was easier to get Lucas down for naps and such when it was just him and I in one room and DH in the other (no distractions). It was nice that we could put him to sleep and shut the connecting door and we could watch TV and talk without worrying about waking him. The Jr Suite has 2 full baths as well and included breakfast. We felt it was well worth the extra cost.

So we are now leaning toward an executive/concierge room (the business center is open on weekends now) or a suite (not bi level). Thanks for all your help so far. Any other thoughts/suggestions?

I think the business center is different from the executive lounge- but either way you can have internet access. The family room also has internet access. I liked the concierge floor- just to have private extra space with internet access, hor deurves, bottled water and couches to relax. Think it also has continental breakfast in lounge, in addition to having the full breakfast included in stay. Think their is coffee there too.

Oh, I missed all of the concierge lounge talk!! Well, yes, we loved it because you get the executive lounge with free email/Internet, free bottled water, snacks at all times, free cocktails, pop, I believe appetizers from 5:30-7:30 and desserts from 7:30-9:30 (M-F??), smaller breakfast, delish coffee in the morning, etc., free breakfast buffet in the Vista and some other goodies that we didn't use (some dry cleaning, maybe?)
There are couches and nice windows to look out of with baby. We loved it as we had a place to go grab a snack or a drink without having to go all of the way downstairs. My "dream world" would be a Jr. Suite (side by side, not with stairs) on the concierge level. The Jr. Suites (I think they have 4?) book quickly. The only downside is I don't think they do quite as much on weekends. The upside is that if you wanted, you could definitely eat breakfast later in the Vista and have free snacks, appetizers, etc. for dinner. I am more of a snacker than a "meal eater" and kids would love it, too. Hope you like it and have a great trip!!
