Skin care products

I am wondering what skin care products people use. We are up here in Minnesota so its a bit dry so I have been using baby oil and baby lotion to keep her skin moist. But in looking at the ingredients and knowing that baby skin is very porous, I am concerned about the petrochemicals and other things that I can't even pronounce that I am rubbing all over my baby. What do people use for skin care out there? This might make an interesting Friday poll.

Also has anyone found any actual research on skin care products and absorption of products and skin health? I'm not having much luck finding anything other than stuff from various companies. Someone in the health care research world must have some answers for this.

I use Arbonne products and will use their baby care items on our son when he gets home. You can google Arbonne and read about their products.

I use Eucerin Daily Replenishing Lotion on my son. My condo water has a very high chlorine content which dries his skin terribly and sometimes causes red splotches on his face. This lotion clears it up within hours. It was recommended to me by my sister in law who uses it on her daughter's eczema on the advice of her pediatrician. It's available in any drugstore or supermarket.

Burt's Bees makes some baby products and the ingredients tend to be more natural.

We don't have any issues at all with Mikayla's skin. I use Johnsons Night Cream on her. LOVE THE SMELL. But my son is a WHOLE other issue. From a very, very young age...a few months old...he has had eczema. It is a terrible thing to have and he would just DIG and ITCH himself. It was horrible and I could not find ANYTHING that would help. I did NOT want him on a med for it. I finally started using Eucerin Calming Cream and OMG it has been a miracle. It works so wonderfully but I have to make SURE I put it on EVERYDAY. I love it. Alec loves it. He calls it his "special lotion" LOL. and it is!

Kinney has really bad excema and Ernie gets patches of it.

We use Carols' Daughter products on them and we have had very little flare ups with these products.

I have not found them in stores around here so just do a web search.

Their products are all natural and we really like them.
We have tried many other products but did not get as good of results.

All natural

I have eczema myself and love the Burt's Baby Bee's products. The Body Wash is so gentle and the lotions are wonderful. Beyond that pure Jojoba oil is great because it's close to the skins natural sebum and soaks into the skin well (put on after bath to lock in moisture). For rehydrating during the day I like Alba Botanicals lotions.

Arbonne vote

Hey MN- that's where we are from too!!

Arbonne has excellent ingredients for infant as well as adults. Their products are pure and no chemicals are added to them.
I am a Esthetician and work with alot of products but this has been one of my favorites for infants.
I will be traveling home to MN in the next month (after fostering my daughter for the last 6 months down here in Antigua) and as soon as we get home I will be using the Arbonne products. They have excellent sun blocks too!

Bumping here...my son's face is so dry and his scalp is extra extra dry with lots of white flakes (not crusts like cradle cap) immediately after we bathe him. He itches and itches at his poor scalp. I've tried Eucerin, Aveeno, and all sorts of oils/lotions to no avail. I actually put olive oil in his hair since he's so dry. I would love to find a product that works for both the skin and scalp and doesn't smell like cooking oil!

We use Dream Cream from Lush. (Yes I know the name sounds a bit strange, but this is MAGICAL stuff!!) You can use it on newborns, and it's ALL natural. Our Son tends to get bumps and dry patches on his skin and after one application of Dream Cream it starts to clear up. They also have all sorts of other natural items for babies. Shampoo that comes in a bar, etc. Because it is all natural they don't cover up the smell of things with heavy fragrances. Our whole family uses their products. I guess you could say we're a bunch of LUSHES

Oh my gosh, that Dream Cream from Lush is amazing stuff! I use it for both Ava and me. I bought it while vacationing in Florida and I LOVED the store. I keep hoping that one will open near me but I don't see that happening in my crummy little area.

I also use Aveeno products and Aquaphor for Ava as recommended by our dermatologist.
