Which adoption went through PGN the fastest........

The first one or the 2nd one? I thought we could kinds take a poll of which one went throught the quickest and how long it took. I am just curious because it looks like peoples 2nd children get through quicker ! I sure hope so!

This won't be what you want to hear either.

First adoption (2004) - 95 days in (and out and in) PGN

Second adoption (2004-2005) - 100 days in PGN

Though with our second, it was signed off by the reviewer in early Dec. and sat on the Director's desk over the holidays and we came out in mid-January. If it wasn't for the holidays, I would think it most likely would have been quicker.

OK, not the case in our family.

Our first daughter was in and out of PGN in 3 weeks in 2004. We've now been in PGN for 52 weeks on our second child's case.

Just think of us as the exception to the norm!

No help here either. 1st adoption in 2003 9 days in PGN (took 4 months to get DNA though!) Second adoption actually was completed faster but took 6 weeks in PGN in 2005.

Here's a positive example!
Our son's case went into PGN on July 8, 2002, was approved on October 15, 2002 and was signed off on October 24, 2002 for a total of 3 months and 16 days. I don't have the # of previos - for those of you who were around back in 2002, many families didn't even know about previos - just the IN and OUT dates.

Our daughter's case went in to PGN on April 6, 2006, was approved on April 10, 2006 and was signed off on May 9, 2006 for a total of one month and 3 days - although it was approved within FOUR DAYS - ergh!

The difference? Different agencies. With Jacob's case, we kept getting previos for paperwork issues, which we found out were TOTALLY our attorney's mistakes, NOT PGN delays like he wanted us to think. When we got the file back, we noticed all sorts of typos that caused the kick-outs. Very frustrating - especially since Jacob's birthmother had to keep coming back to sign off on the corrected docs.

I hope you all hear great news soon!!!

First adoption: in PGN December 17, 2004. Out of PGN February 6, 2005. So, about 7 weeks. We did have one KO on the Guat side, it took 3 weeks to get the paperwork redone and resubmitted.

Second adoption: in PGN March 22, 2007.

PGN runs hot and cold. It's been running cold for a long time - but current trends show it may be getting hot again. Hopefully that turns out true for all of us waiting - especially those in the Copa club.

Tina

With our first adoption we were in PGN for 2 weeks (July 2005) with no kick outs. With our second adoption of our twin daughters we were in PGN for 7 weeks (August 2006) with no kick outs. We used the same agency with both adoptions. We were blessed with pretty quick cases and we give God all the glory! I say pray, pray, pray.

I'm pulling for you to have a quick process this time!

Our son Joseph was in PGN for 7 weeks in August-October of 2004, including one KO for no preapproval. Bryan was in PGN for 14 weeks, including one KO for no preapproval.

There is one factor that I can think of that could work in your favor, though: the impending Hague and uncertainty in Guatemala have, I think, put a damper on new adoptions (bad for the kids but good for speedy process). I think those of us who just got out of PGN may have been in a "baby boom" period, while the later ones will likely be in a slowdown. Maybe the increased scrutiny and reduced adoptions will cancel each other out and you'll get out quickly. I'm praying that will be the case!

Carolyn
