Is there anything I can do if my agency won't help me?

Tomorrow it has been one month since I emailed my agency and told them I was frustrated and wanted to know where our process was. They told me they would find out and let me know and that was the last that I heard. In the meantime I went on a visit trip which they arranged, but still have no idea where our process is. Our POA has been in Guatemala since 1/1. Shouldn't SOMETHING have happened by now? Should my agency know where we are at every step? How do I get them to fill me in without being a pest? If your opinion is that it hasn't been long enough and I just need to be patient please let me know. Sorry to be a whiner.
Kadee

I know exactly what you are going through all too well. I personally would keep after them. I hope you hear some good news soon.

No advice, but I hear ya. I have asked a couple times (by email) what's going on with ours and haven't heard anything. I emailed yesterday and plan on emailing in another week, then I'm calling the next. I'm just going to keep emailing/calling once a week until they call/email me back. I really don't know what else to do.

A whole month without hearing anything from them is unacceptable, especially in light of everything going on with the DOS and Guatemala. You aren't being a pest! You are spending a ton of money in this process so that they work for you! I would call them. JMO!

You should definitely have some sort of update by now. I would have expected you to at least have been submitted for DNA authorization and FC by now. Keep after them. If they are anything like mine, they have poor communication with the attorney and so they start avoiding you.

Hope they can get you something soon.

I'm sorry for your frustrations!

In my opinion it's completely unacceptable to wait so long for updates from your agency and to have to keep asking them. They should be able to tell you or find out where you case is - especially this early in the process. Yes, once we all get to PGN it's a bit of a black hole, but POA, DNA, etc. shouldn't be hard for them to give you an update.

I would go bonkers without agency communication!

Good Luck. Keep us all posted.

You are not being treated appropriately.

I am truly blessed b/c my agency keeps all of constantly updated, including sending out an email to everyone adopting from a particular country each month. They always return emails (even when my caseworker is OUT of the country) within a couple of days. So you are NOT being treated fairly. Send them a certified letter if you have to demanding an update.

We were expecting an update last week and didn't receive one. I think we ususally get updates about once a month.

One reason we've been told updates are sparse is because the attys are busy running around filing POAs for people trying to beat out the protocolo/Hague.

Squeeky wheel gets the grease, as they say. Keep bugging them.

I agree. Keep bugging them. Send them an e-mail once a week or so. Thats not being a pest. You deserve to know what is happening with your file.

I am in my second adoption with the same group of people and we talk all the time. I know step by step what is happening.

I think you need to tell them what kind of communication you need. Say, "Could you email me every thursday and let me know what is going on. News or no news." Even if they won't do that you have let them know you need more communication.

I would wait 48hrs and if I didn't recieve a response I would call.
