Referral! (and a question)
Hi all,
We received a referral over the weekend of a little girl born on March 3rd. Maybe we are used to our son (he is 22 pounds at 8 months!) but I'm a little worried that she is so small - only 5 lbs and 18 inches. She is a cutie though! Did anyone else have this same worry with their children? Thanks! Sheila

Congrats on your referral!!!! She is HUGE compared to my peanut. Our IA doc told us that she was proportioned well even though she was small. When we visited last week, she was doing incredible and is continuing to grow well.

My daughter was 5lbs 3oz and 18.5 inches long...she is now going to be 6 months and weighs 11 pounds and 24 inches long. But she does have a full face and looks very healthy

Congrats!!! Our first referral was a preemie and very tiny. On formula and vitamins he did very well in those few weeks we knew him.
Now we have a chunky munkey LOL But, mostly it seems like the little ones are around that size. Congratulations!!! Best wishes for a speedy process!

Our Solie was 4lbs 10oz at birth so I don't think your referral sounds too small.
She is 18 months now and still little, just a petite person, completely normal and smart as a whip!

My daughter was in the 5lb range at birth and is 5 months old now and a CHUNK.
I was told that's quite normal for Guatemalan babies because they're a lot smaller on average than US babies. How big was your son at birth? CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What WONDERFUL news!!! Can you post pictures for us?? We all LOVE pictures.

Congrats on your referral!! Most Gaut babies are small at birth I believe. Bella was 6 lbs., so a little bigger than that and she is now 6 months and 16 1/2 lbs!!! Our bio son was just under 5 lbs. when he came home from the hospital and he was perfectly healthy. Congrats again!! Can't wait to see pictures!!!

Congratulations!! I hope she has a smooth journey home to you.
Our son was 5 lbs at birth and came home at 8.5 months weighing 19 lbs. Guatemalan babies tend to be smaller - as long as she is well proportioned she should be fine.

Congrats on your referral. My daughter is a little peanut, at 7 months she only weighted 13 lbs. She is small but we had the wonderful experience of meeting her birthmother on out pickup trip and she was 5 ft if she was lucky and weighed about 95lbs soaking wet. It's not unusual for Guatemalan children to be smaller than what we are use to in the States.
