We will be flying on Continental Airlines. Purchased our tickets, but I need to know where and at what point do we purchase our lap ticket for the baby on the return flight. Do we buy it at the checkin counter when we depart the US, or do we do it at the checkin counter in Guatemala?

We purchased our lap ticket in Guatemala City at the Continetal airlines desk.

Unless you can get a copy of your child's new BC or passport so you can be 100 percent sure how their name reads, I would wait until you are in GC. You definetly can get it at the airport at checkin (that is what I did) or at the Marriott there are offices for two airlines. I am drawing a blank as to which two, but if Continential is one of them, you could also get it there.

The Continental office is at the Marriott. We got our lap ticket there after our embassy appointment the day before we flew home. Very easy process -- you can pay with credit card -- the ticket agent speaks English very well. You do need to know how your child's name is listed on their passport (we were a little surprised how they listed our son's name) - so best to wait til you've seen the passport. Good luck!
