My *hague baby* turns 4 today!!!!
Can you believe it?!!! All our *hague babies* are either 4 or turning 4!!! Mine little angel baby turns 4 today!! I remember all the days and nights I spent on this forum....just hoping for any tidbit of news....all our babies did come home eventually and then....time flys!!! Brooklyn is 4 today and just the most wonderful little girl!! We were fortunate that she came home fairly young even with the hague shutdown....9.5 months.....and I can hardly believe she is in preschool!
Her papa(my stepdad) was the very first person besides my husband that she totally bonded to....they were connected at the heart from day 1....When she was 2.5 yrs old...he got diagnosed with terminal cancer...and it has been iffy if he would be here this year...Her birthday wish...that her Papa would come to her birthday...we celebrated it yesterday and he was able to come for a short time and even managed to sit on the couch with her and read her a book...which was just an amazing gift he gave her...she loves her Papa and we have had been talks on him not being here someday and she always just lays her head down and cries...it is so painful and sad but I just know....that God has blessed us so much even though he will only be in Brooklyns life for a short time..She needed him so much when she came home....she was very attached to her foster mom and her transition was not easy for her.....and ....papa needed her as well! He just realize how much he would love this little girl but she made it so easy because she truly does not feel any event is complete without her Papa! She really gave him no other choice but to love her! So...we had a small celebration yesterday....and just were all so grateful that Papa was able to share with Brooklyn....her birthday... We bought her a Princess car...and forgot to charge the battery...so she hasnt even driven it yet...but she is pretty thrilled with the possibility of getting to drive now! So see these little ones do come home and are driving before you know it!!! lol..... So happy birthday to my little Brooklyn and all her fellow *hague* friends!!! Wow, she is breathtaking!!! I started to cry with the Papa story. My grandfather never got to meet any of my kids and we were very close. I know how those grandparents can touch our hearts. She is just absolutely beautiful and please tell her that I am so jealous of her princess car!!

Thank you for sharing your beautiful girl, and the touching story about her Papa, too! It really helps those of us caught in the crossfire of the latest political developments to see people that survived the Hague era and still brought their babies home. Your daughter is beautiful. I remember her and you well. I am also the mommy of a Hague baby. He will be 4 on April 1.

Time does fly...Marisol will be 4 one month from today. I just ordered her present from Amazon.  I can relate to the papa story. Dh's stepdad just passed away before Christmas after an 18 month battle with lung cancer. Marisol was crushed. At first she didn't understand, she thought grandpa was just visiting Jesus. When she realized that he went to live with Him permanently, she sobbed and sobbed. She still brings him up when something reminds her of him and says she misses him. It is amazing in a child so young, but those bonds are hard to break.
