Braeden is back from the hospital!!

Some of you may remember that I posted about a month ago about Braeden doing this weird "seizing" thing in his sleep. WELL...it has been a crazy month to say the least. We just got back from Children's Hospital after a three day stay to finally get to the bottom of things.
We found out two things:

1. He has severe GERD (reflux). Weird thing is he has NEVER thrown up. Never spit up. Never clears his throat. Nothing. But believe me, after the pH probe, he HAS reflux...big time! He is now on medication for this.
2. He has slowing on his EEG. What does this mean?? I'm not really sure because even the neurologists said at this point it could be a bunch of things...from seizures to NOTHING.
So, we treat reflux for 30 days and back to Children's Hospital we go! It has been hard but Braeden is such a trooper! If you want to see his pics from the hospital (yes, I am patetic...I took his picture in the hospital), you can check out my blog. (in my signature) What you will not see...me in the crib, but rest assured, I spent ALOT of time in there. Every time the nurses would leave I would climb right in with my baby. My husband kept saying to our family when they would call, "Hold on, Megan has to climb out of her cage!"

Awww....he was a trooper - that looks like it was rough. You are so sweet to get in the crib with him! I love that!

I hope the medicine works wonders and that next month the Children's Hospital gives you a GREAT report! <3

Hi, I'm glad your little guy is home. My DD had severe reflux and she eventually out grew it. We were just at Children's Hospital two weeks ago for a sleep study. We should have our own parking space we are there so much. My DD was diagnosed with Mild Obstructive sleep Apnea. I love that hospital they are very good.

MY DD was hospitalized on pick-up as she seized 2 times. She was just under a year at the time which can be a problem if one seizes before a year old. At the time that it happened, I called my dad ASAP as he is a pediatric neurologist at his hospital(well know in his field As we were talking, my dd vomited like I've never seen before. He immediately said it was reflux They did all the test, cat scan, EEG (which also showed a little irregularity but nothing to be worried about), etc and they confirmed what my dad said. She was on reflux meds for about two months and hasn't had a problem since we came home. FYI, he said it is not uncommon for children at a young age to have reflux and seize. She has been fine ever since, checked out by my dad and by her ped. Thank god my mom was with me at the time because I was a wreck. Anyhow, good luck and I'm sure everything will work out not that he is on meds

Of my three that had/has GERD, my daughter had what your son has--it is refered to as *Silent GERD.* I remember posting on your thread regarding your son.

I am glad that you are getting to the bottom of it.

Hey Megan! Someone as tall as you must have had a heck of a time getting in that crib! What a photo. He is a trooper. I am glad you are getting some good care for him.

Looks like it was a tough thing for him, with all those tubes. Must have been heart-breaking for you and DH. Hope the meds heal him. BTW, what a beautiful baby you have--God bless him.

good luck

Best of luck to you and your son. We have a lot of responsibilites once we become parents, from small boo boos up until looking into more potentially serious things. It's all part of the job. I hope all things work out.
