Since the other thread on the show was closed before I got to comment (I didn't see another one started even though the Admin said that it was OK for Jen to do so.). I hope starting this thread is OK, because I have something positive to say to Jen.


I just wanted to commend Jen (Addison's Mommy) on her bravery on going on National TV to tell her story of the heartbreaking Adoption Scam that she was a victim of.

While I have never been a fan of Dr. Phil, I thought it was a great show and the ladies who had been scammed handled themselves with dignity and grace. (I'm not sure if I would have been able to do that if I were in their shoes).

I am so glad that Jen decided to not let this crazy person stop her from following her dream of becoming a Mom. I wish the other two ladies well in their pursuit of healing and finding their little ones! If you keep in contact with them, please let them know that there are other adoptive parents out there that are keeping them in their prayers.

I was just watching the show and I told my husband that I wondered if that was Jen, Addisons mom. I said it looks a lot like her. He looked at me like I was crazy and sure enough I checked the site and it was her. The only picture I had ever seen of her was one holding Addison on her pick up trip.

I am glad also that she went ahead and became a mom to a beautiful princess (Addison)

I've told Jen this already, but I think it was really wonderful that the three women went on national t.v. to confront this woman. They handled themselves really well and I, too, hope that the other two women are able to adopt soon.

You did this with more diginity and grace that anyone in your situation could imagine. My hat is off to you!!! The way you handled yourself reminds me of a saying..Words that soak into your ears are are whispered...not yelled.

I agree! Jen, you did a fabuous job, as well as the other 2 women you were with. I don't know if I could have held it together like you ladies did. You ladies handled it so graciously. I'm so glad you have a little one now to hold and love and that the other women find their way to happiness also. Thanks again for putting a nice, compassionate face/name to all of us who travel this adoption journey.

I agree Jen, with all of the previous posters, I too watched the show & thought that yourself, Marie & Cris did a phenomenal job !!
You all handled yourselves with such dignity & respect, you all got to say how you felt & did it with such class.

I'm sorry that you all had to go through this, thanks so much for sharing your story on national television.

Congrats to you on bringing your beautiful baby home from Guatemala & please do tell the girls to have faith & that we're all praying for them & their day will come, to hold on tight ! Their dream WILL come true !!

Oh goodness Jen - I had no idea as I watched the show that you were one of the moms! I just want to say that I am so sorry for what you went through. It is horrible. When I was still waiting I looked forward to seeing pictures of Addison because I think that she is just the cutest little girl in the world! I am so happy that you have that precious baby girl in your arms and that you had the courage to do the show!!!!

My DVR failed me that night.... OK, I have to be honest and I think I have the poor thing on overload and it was trying to tape too many shows and Dr. Phil didn't tape. (I forgot it was on so I tried to tape the evening showing and it didn't work. )

Wow, it was SO NICE to log on today and see this thread which I did not even know existed till now.

THANK YOU all so much for your comments and your kindness. I will have to admit that this whole ordeal brought back the pain to me in a very real way, which was something I just didn't expect after 3 years time.
It was a very emotional week, all in all. You probably noticed how much I had to bite my lip and just steel myself from the raw emotion that was being felt. I didn't want to bawl on tv! LOL! (Then again, I am the one person out of the three, who went on to adopt a child, so I am not saying the pain feels different, but I have experienced great joy which helps wash over some of the horrible feelings Melissa left behind). I will also admit that it was VERY VERY difficult not to cuss, rant, and go off on that woman while she was sitting a foot in front of me for the first time, ever. She was such a coward, with no remorse, FAKE tears (she taught herself how to cry like that! And used it many times during her scams, this big fake crying hysterically scene...it was soo unreal)...and she definitely has no conscience and no heart. I honestly believe that no matter where her future takes her, she will find a way, some day some how, to do this again to someone.

I have forged lifelong friendships with these two other women (and MORE) who were victimized. (there were other victims, whom you did not see on the show, but have been identified and told their stories to law enforcement authorities). It's like being in some weird, unfortunate 'sisterhood', being thrown together by this terrible turn of events over the course of a few years. These ladies, Crissy and Marie, are amazing!

I'm not a person who likes to be on camera, so this was something I had to overcome because to me it was much MORE important that we get this story out, expose Melissa for the evil con artist that she is, and seek other victims who will help us on our road to justice being served. I think we are on our way with that.

I was filled with pride when I saw how well you all kept your composure when face-to-face with that $^@&*# con! (Although if one of you would have reached over and slapped her Jerry-Springer-show style, I would not have been that disappointed!)
