We just got home a couple of weeks ago. I am a first time mom and have no idea what i'm doing. When our son came home he was basically only having formula and some rice cereal. I introduced stage 1 baby food ..one container at lunch and dinner two weeks ago but other 8 month olds seem to be starting real solids.
What are your 8 month olds eating?
Also we have no idea how to get him on a nap schedule. We just got him off night bottles when we came home and he will sleep ok from 8pm -6am.
Here is his basic daily schedule:

6am -wakes up and has 8oz bottle
sometime between 8-9:45 he will take a 30 min nap
10am - 8oz bottle
12pm -1 container baby food
2pm-8oz bottle
will take about another 30 min nap between 2:30-4pm
5pm-1 container baby food
7pm-8 oz bottle
8pm -bed

What do you guys do for your 8 month old and do you have any suggestions. I'm so tired b/c he only takes two 30 min naps a day and it's basically in the stroller b/c he won't nap any other way. We haven't tried to lay him in his crib (just b/c he cries a lot and we can't figure out when he's tired).

Congrats on having your baby home!

Here is just my 2 cents: I do not give my 8 month old any "real solids" -- nor did I with my first child. I tend to take it really slow introducing new foods because of allergies. My son is bio, and there are no allergies in our family, but I was still very cautious. With Maria, since I have no idea of her medical history, I am taking it very slow as well.

I give Maria 2 containers of Stage 2 (bigger containers than Stage 1) veggies mixed with baby cereal (start with oat, then on to other single grain, then on to mixed). I do this so that the meal is more substantial than just the baby food (w/o the cereal) and, for me, it makes it much easier to feed since it is not as watery/runny. I also give her one container of Stage 2 fruit and her bottles (about 3 - 4 8 oz).

Maria will not nap in her crib either. I put her in her car seat and she naps for about 2 - 2 1/2 hours around 2:00pm. I am not sure what I am going to do once she outgrows that carseat/carrier, but for now it works!

Sounds like you are doing fine, here is my schedule, he is 7 months old though

7am wake up
8am 6-8 oz bottle(doesnt like to eat as soon as he wakes up)
10am rice cereal with stage 2 applesauce
1030-1200nap
1200 6-8 oz bottle
400 6-8 oz bottle
700 rice cereal with stage 2 applesauce
800 4 oz bottle and off to bed


He was not on anything but formula when we picked him up at the end of January, we just started on cereal and applesauce recently will work him slowly on different foods
