Hi
There are many ethnicities in Guatemala..my daughters birthmother is Spanish, yet had an what we would consider a North American name, there are also indigenous Mayan names such as Xiloneth, Spanish names, there is a Korean, Chinese and Afro-Carribean population in Guatemala and others as well....
I am guessing you are asking if anyone has a Spanish name for their child? Many folks do opt for that and some chose North American names..some chose family names etc..
I got to name my daughter right from the start, as we got her referral when she was still in the hospital and the birthmother did not wish to name her..we have Anna as a family name..and I dropped 1 "n" to make it the Spanish spelling Ana.. I also used the more Spanish way to spell Sofia (not Sophia)..

Our son's given name was Antonio and I changed it..though looking back I kind of wish I had kept it..

Names

We kept our son's name, Israel, which is hispanic and was given to him by his birthmother.
We also added some middle names, one of which is Spanish and another is a family name that is English.

I kept my DD's birthname completely and just added my last name!

But it was her name that was my "sign" that she was for me...

We kept my daughter's name that was given to her at birth, it was a sign for me too, it was the same as my grandmother's name and it's a very unusual name, not common at all, so we knew this was our child...

Marcy, I love both of your daughter's birth names.
Chloe's birth name was Maria Fernanda and we named her Chloe Faith Maria, I thought it was important to keep at least part of her birth name.

We are keeping our daughter's 1st name but are changing her middle name to honor my husband's sister (she passed away in her 20's and it's very important to him).

Her first name is very close to my mother's name which makes it special to me.

We are keeping our daughter's birth names and using them as middle names. We are giving her an "American" first name. We were going to just use her birth first name as a middle name but it was her birth middle name that was one of our "signs". I love the way her new full name flows along with our last name which is Italian.

Our son was given what I think is an American name for a first name, Bryan Estuardo. My husband and I already had the name Shay Mateo chosen for him. We were positive on the first but somewhat flexible with Mateo. I do like the name Estuardo, but I found out that not always do the birthmother's name their babies. Because we didn't know if the Bmom named him his name for sure, we are going with Mateo, (mostly because the name means God's gift.)

With that said, when I went to Guatemala, I fell in love with the people, culture, and names and I kept thinking that we should name Shay something more Guatemalan/Hispanic. (My sister and I were at the pool hearing all these Guatemalan parents calling their children by their names--they were just beautiful sounding. Even Hispanic names we hear every day just sounded beautiful coming from their mouths with their accents.)

When I got home, I thought about it some more. We really do LOVE the name we chose for him. We also have 4 other children and wanted the names to flow nicely. So we decided to keep his name. But, if we ever adopt again, I am pretty positive that we will go with a Hispanic name.

Our son's birth name is Cristian Alexander. We are keeping Cristian, spelling and all, and giving him my maiden name (which I use as my last name) as a middle name.

We kept our son's birth name, Selvin, also!!

Met Birth mom while in Guat. & she cried w/ joy at the thought of us keeping his name!!! : )

Plus, my bro that passed away 5 years ago was SOLOMON - so Selvin makes me think of my dear brother!

I am in the minority here. We completely renamed our daughter. My DH and I had a special name picked out for a girl since before we ever even got married! LOL. When we decided to adopt we wanted to keep it...since it was a long hard journey to get to this point. Her name is Mikayla Faith and we adore this name and think it fits her perfectly. Her name WAS Clara Luz. Very, very different name. I love it, but it does not go at ALL with our last name. It actully rhymes. So we just couldn't keep it. BUT...we call her Clarita sometimes.
Hugs

Our daughter's birthname was Madelyn Ann. Ummmmm, could you get more American than that? So truthfully I was a little bit bummed about that because I had wanted an "authentic" name. Her birthmom's name wasn't something that we liked, so we added Lucia into her middle name because her foster mom, who was awesome, was named Maria Luc. So she is Addyson Lucia May F....
