My agency called today to say that the Embassy will not be making appointments for the week of Feb 19th because of some meetings. I can't beleive this because this would have been our week and my 171H expires on Feb 26th. I can not catch a break. Has anyone else heard this from their agency???

what??? no have NOT heard this and like you that will probally be our week to go......come on now we are ready to bring Isabel home. she will be 10 months old on the 12 of Feb.

This is the email I received from a friend -

The U.S. Embassy in Guatemala announces that it does not plan to schedule immigrant visa interview appointments for adopted Guatemalan children March 18 – 21, 2007 during the Annual InterAmerican
Development Bank Governors Assembly, which will be held in Guatemala. The U.S. Embassy understands from organizers that, as of January 2007, there are already 2,800 persons registered to attend this
meeting, including nine Heads of State. The major hotels most used by American citizen adoptive parents are already fully booked for most of
the period from March 15 through March 21. While we will continue to monitor the situation closely, the U.S. Embassy Guatemala expects that final adoption cases sent to the Consular Section from the DHS/USCIS
office the week of March 12 through March 16, will be issued "Pink Slips" and scheduled for immigrant visa appointments the week of March 26 through March 30, 2007".

If you go to the Dept. of State website you will see that actual dates that they will not be issuing pink slips / appt. are March 17-21....not February.

This day (2/19) is a federal holiday (President's Day). So, the Embassy will be closed this day only, what I understand. I am a federal employee and we are off this day.
