Ok, so we have already received our COC, however, we did a readoption so we want to request a new one.

My question is, should I hold off on sending the N-565 until they have processed the new COC or does it matter since they have already issued my son a COC and now it's just a matter of changing the name on it?

Also, I think I read on another thread it can take up to a year to get a new COC - is this correct? Really don't want to have to wait a year before sending in the N-565 if that is the case.

Any advice or opinions please?

I think the length of time it takes to get a new COC varies by office. I know of some people that got it in well under a year.

I really don't think it matters if you file the G884 at the same time as the N565. With the N600 you have to file some additional paperwork if you have already filed the G884 and have the packet back, but for the N565 I don't see where it would matter. You aren't required to supply an addtional documentation beyond that original COC.
