My first post - Beginning the Journey - Looking for Good Agency
Hello,
We have begun our adoption journey. YAY! I know it's going to be a challenge at times, but am looking forward to the final outcome! So, I thought I had a local agency all lined up.... but then I heard some not so positive things. Now it seems to be Pandora's box picking another! I've PM'd a few members regarding their experiences, but usually they are completed with their adoptions, and I suspect they may not be checking into the forum as often to reply. We live in Central PA and I am currently considering Commonwealth Adoptions and Celebrate Children Intl. Any feedback on those agencies would be greatly appreciated! If there are any other great agencies you think I should research, please, please, PM me. I would be so grateful. I would prefer an agency in PA, so that the homestudy could be done together, but from what I am reading, it does not seem to be a big deal to get it from another company. I've spent quite a few hours researching this forum, and I've already learned so much! Okay enough of me... I do tend to go on! Any info would be most appreciated! Dorothy

Im also relatively new. Been getting lots of info from here the last month or so. We just signed with an agency last week.

My advice would not to get hooked on finding an agency in the same state if you can't locate a great one in PA. I used an out of state agency that was fantastic. Yes, I had to get another agency to do my home study, but it was no big deal at all coordinating them. Bascally they talked on the phone once and sent a fax to the local HS agency on some extra questions they wanted addressed for Guatemala and that was it. It was all done before the HS was complete, so it was all taken care of.
There are some great agencies out there. My advice would be to pick the one you get the best recommendations from no matter where they are located. There are tons of people on this forum that would be happy to share their experiences with you good or bad. PM me if you would like me to give you a recommendation on my agency. They are not located in PA. Good Luck!
