Babies born with hair on their face???

Just wondering if anyone has or knows about babies born with hair on their faces? Is this a common thing? Does it go away? Did any of your children have it?

This is VERY normal. (There's another thread about this from last week...) All babies are born w/it. If the baby is darker-skinned, it's just more obvious than on pale-skins like myself. We are mammals, after all!

It does go away.

Check out the hair on my little squirt on our Christmas visit!

I'm so glad you asked this! John still has a lot of hair on his forehead and ears - we go to the doctor tomorrow, and I was going to ask if it's normal.

My son's forehead had a lot of hair when he was first born, almost to the point of blending in with his eyebrows. It gradually just went away (it's still slightly there if you look close), although we do take care of his sideburns when we get his hair cut!

see? no more hairy forehead

Our little girl had quite a bit of facial hair at 9 days (referral - she was also preterm). Because it was dark, it was more noticible. It did go away...she is truly a doll!

Most all of Gabby's is gone. She still has a little bit under her ear and a little on her upper lip but I have to look harder and harder to see it. She had a lot on her forhead in her 2 day, 2 week, and 1 month pictures. It's nothing to worry about.

Oh yeah! My baby had so much hair in her referral pics - my entire family was concerned. I swear I could have put a bow on her forehead (right above her eyebrows!) She also had hair on her legs, back, neck, shoulders at the 4 week visit and the 9 week visit (much less at the 9 week.) This is perfectly normal - and I will tell you - I'm a particularly biased mommy - but I think my baby is absolutely gorgeous! So does the rest of my family - finally! People were calling my mom asking if there was something wrong with her and if it would ever come off! I even warned everyone ahead of time b/c I'd seen so many referral pics of other GUA babies. Anyway - it'll be fine, I promise! And, yes - it goes away.

eli's is FINALLY starting to go away...but I keep teasing I am going to take him in for a wax! That kid is SUPER hairy on his face....but his moustache is almost gone, his forehead hair is fading, now it is just his uni-brow. Ahhhhh.....my little angel what a cutie pie! I love my hairy man I think it is normal.

Most babies have a lot of fine baby hair, but I think it is even more common with babies that are tiny like a lot of ours are. If they are premature and/or underweight their body grows a little more hair as insulation in place of fat. As they get bulkier, they don't need the hair anymore and they lose it.

My poor baby looked like a wolf-man in his referral picture. Now he's not quite so hairy, but you can still see a little bit of it. Perfectly normal!

Patti, Faolan isn't hairy, but OMG our first referral was. My friends still refer to him as the hairy guy LOL He was about 5 weeks preterm and VERY tiny. I noticed by our third set of pictures that it had started to fade and by what everyone is saying, it usually fades completely.

The first pic was one of our referral pics. Caleb was two weeks old here. The other is a recent pic to calm your fears of raising a child who looks like

Olivia had a really hairy forhead! I was quite shocled in one picture we were sent. It does grow out though and right now it looks more like her bangs. I've heard its quite common.

In some cases it may take even longer to go away. My daughter came home at age 6 and her upper back and upper arms looked just like Owen's in the picture above! 2 years later it is mostly all gone.
