Any of your babies have COMPLETE ATTITUDE!!!

Addyson has a cute personality. She's not one of those babies that sits there quietly, she is always trying to goof around.

However,

when she gets mad, she has a complete attitude. I cannot believe how "snotty" she can be. When she gets really mad at me, she will scream in babble. I've never heard a baby do it before. It is like she is telling me exactly where to go and crying and screaming at the same time. She will go on and on like a big run-on sentence in goo goo-ga.

Yelling at me is one thing, but this is what she does to my other children. If my daughter, Cortlynne, takes something that she should not have away from her, she will haul off and belt her. Its not a cute little baby hit either...she screams at her and then hits her. If she is holding something she will hit with it. She is clearly really mad. I have never-ever seen a baby this young display such an attitude. Also, my kids never went through a hitting stage. So what the heck do I do with her? I have been taking her away and sitting her on the floor away from Cortlynne and saying a very stern "No hitting" but does she understand what the heck I mean? I had a lady today who spent a little time with her during a peak attitude time, "Wow, she acts like she is two years old!" ummmmm, yeah. That is how bad it is. Any advice?

Here's an example of one of the faces we get with the 'tude.

She has a little latin temper...that might be her personality......but I would put her in time out if she hits...she needs to know what behavior is not acceptable in your house....

Got one here!

We definitely brought home a cute little blessing that turns into a "im not sure what" when she gets &$&#*!! I am not sure what other word to use because you guessed it, she is by all means *%(@)@.

I call her my little "hothead" or "caliente" sometimes. She is so cute and bubbly but if you cross her then watch out. This "attitude" especially comes with food. I can't believe how possessive she is for as young as she is. I even caught her in her crib once yelling "no" and pounding her fist down on the bed. I'm telling you, she can be angry.

Granted, I have five boys so I have never experienced the "girl thing" but this just seems so exteme!!! She definitely stands up for herself. I dont' know what it is that makes her this way but she definitely can be a stinker!

My husband says it's the latino blood! ;-) Bryce will point her finger at us and yell, 'No, no, no!!' Most of the time she's an angel, but when she's upset, she is fiesty.. She's quite a bit older than Addyson though..

Oh no...I can see it coming!!! Just this past week...if Hannah has something and I take it away from her...she is not HAPPY...she will scream her head off until I either give it back or redirect her...YIKES...you girls are giving me a piece of what I'm in for.

My DS was always so sweet...I just assumed it was the girl coming out in her...maybe it's the latino girl!!!

So it's not just my "little angel"??? Holy cow, I'm afraid our neighbors will call social services on us with how ferocious Matty's bloody-murder screams are!! He's not 2 yet, but WOW if he gets any worse in the traditional "terrible twos" I'm in BIG trouble! 98% of the time he's the sweetest kid in town, but the other 2% of the time - lookout! Thank you all for letting me blame it on the Latino blood rather than bad parenting....

Can't you just see the devil in his eyes?

Mandy, you just described our son. He is only 10 mos old and has been throwing fits for about a month (9 mos old are you kidding me- yikes). He does not like to hear "no". Actually, sometimes it's a little hard not to laugh when he yells, gives you the lip, throws himself on the floor and starts banging his head while grunting in frustration. It is so clearly just a tantrum.

I keep telling myself he just must be smart and/or have a strong personality. He's a total stitch otherwise- funny and a total flirt.

I'm a first time mom, so no advice here, but I can't wait to see some ideas.

Temper

OMG- I thought it was just because my son's FM spoiled him - he gets sooooo mad when he is told no, he hits scratches or bites. The other day I wouldn't let him touch my computer keyboard and he took off his little Sketcher tennis shoes (sz 5) and threw them at me.

I think there is something behind the latin temper!!!!

Hang in there

So funny that you posted this. Not ha ha funny just crazy. You literally just described my daughter to a capital T! Daniela is 14 months now but has been exhibiting this type of behavior since I would say about 7-8 months. It actually has gotten maybe worse not better. She is a sweetheart and a good little girl. However, if you do something she does not like or take something from her? She has a full on pull out all the stops terrible 2 moment. It has concerned me quite a bit and I have actually discussed it with the pediatrician. He is from Mexico and has a 2 year old daughter who he tells me is a fiery little latina herself. He gave me some pointers for addressing the behavior as he would for a 2 year old but in a modified fashion due to her age. Please feel free to PM me to discuss. We have an older child (he is 8) and he is constantly getting belted and scratched by Daniela. She is kinda of a bully actually. LOL he is so sweet but she is already jealous of our attention to him and takes it out on him. My main concern is if she is like this now what will 2 and 3 be like!

Rest assured that you are not the only one dealing with a hot latina temper :-) A friend of our family who is a development specialist explained that part of it may be that cognitively they are advanced and have all of these thoughts and desires for things but their physical abilities and speech are not as advanced. The frustration from this can be maddening.

Hang in there ,

D

Ladies--I am sympathetic to what you are all going through. I might get it soon too! But, I would like to say that it strikes me badly to attribute personality to one's race, i.e., "Latino/a temper". Toddlers are known for their tempers, regardless of race. I'm not trying to be argumentative, just sensitive.

ROFL! I am sorry. I know it's probably not funny for you all at the time. (Although sometimes I have to bite my lip to keep from laughing when my DS throws a little tantrum.) But your descriptions and picturing these beautiful sweet children turning into little devils cracks me up. I'm sure I'll come to eat my words before too long! Nothing like having a size 5 baby shoe thrown at you! LOL.

My kids' Spanish teacher calls this Latino PASSION. She says every emotion comes out with every bit of the passion in their bodies - love, anger, flirty, sadness. It sounds like she's right! LOL

Addyson sounds a lot like Gabriella. She has such a cute personality, until she doesn't get her way. When that happens, you'd better watch out!!!
