OT: What's your best "its a small world" story?
You know the story...where someone you met knows someone else who dated your aunt's best friend's cousin who just had a baby and had a playdate with your sister's boyfriend's ex-fiancee's son. (ummmmm, yeah). Anyways, what's your best story?
I know this isn't my best, but this is the latest. I have been having a lot of small world realizations lately, but this one just happened to me. I am originally from Green Bay WI and was going to school in LaCrosse when I met my dh on Spring Break in Panama City Beach, FL. He was from West Bend, WI. His cousin, S (who is also from West Bend but went to college in Milwaukee), just got engaged to some guy that she's been dating for about a year. When we were at the last family gathering I was talking about a certain kind of chocolate that is made in Green Bay and no one knew about it, but then he said, "I LOVE that chocolate, its the best!" Come to find out he is from Green Bay. I said "what is your last name" and so on. Come to find out, he went to my high school and his older sister was on my cheerleading squad. Upon further investigation, we discovered that his cousin was my very first serious boyfriend (with whom I carried a crush for for MANY years), who is also probably going to be at the wedding. What are the chances of that?!?!?!? There are so many places in the world, but not too many of them that are that far away. Weird. So what's your story?

WOW! That is a good one. Mine is that one year I decided to be adventurous so I moved to KOREA to teach Kindergarten. I did it for one year and then returned home to California. I thought I would never see any of the students or parents EVER AGAIN b/c half of them were Koreans and the other half were International workers from other countries...I taught NO students, regardless of origin, from USA. About a month after I was back, I was at this random way-lame outlet mall when I heard my name and saw no other than my freakin' room mom from Korea. Now THAT is a small small world!

This was actually the sign we needed that we were headed in the right direction with Guatemala. My sister's best friend and his wife were in the process of adopting from Guatemala. We were visiting Denver (where my family lives) over the summer, and wanted to visit a cool retro vinyl store. We pulled down a random side street to park, since parking is terrible at the store. As we pulled up, there was a nice looking young guy showing an older couple houses in the neighborhood. Turns out, it was my sister's BEST FRIEND!! The chances of running into him on that street at that time are SO small, I can't even imagine. I haven't seen him since I moved 7 years ago, so it was a bit of shock. That's my SMALL WORLD!

Oooh! I wanna play!!! (And yes Andrea, I'm stalking youi!). This one isn't so much as a "small world" story, more of my being a "jealous wife" story, but I'll make it fit. DH "dated" a girl about 15 years ago, a few years before we got together. Cut to a month ago when DH's brother brings his new girlfriend to a family dinner. DH and I weren't there so I heard about the new gf from a family member. Turns out DH's brother is now seeing DH's ex! Ewwwww........ And DH and his brother didn't know why I was upset or thought it was weird. So now I will be meeting my brother-in-law's new girlfriend, who just happened to have gone on a few dates with my husband.

Well, not so much the 'someone else who dated your aunt's best friend's cousin who just had a baby and had a playdate with your sister's boyfriend's ex-fiancee's son' but kind of literally small world . . .
On our pickup trip for my daughter, my Mom and I got off the Marriott shuttle at the front door of the hotel and the very first people we see are someone I went to high school with (mind you our graduating class was only about 150 people) and his wife. I had met her through the Forum and she made the connection through my name, and I knew they were going to be picking up that weekend as well, but it still was kind of bizarre.

Here's my story....Dh and I went on a motorcylce trip last year for labor day. We drove from our home town in Michigan to South Dakota. We stayed in deadwood one night, and deciede to go downtown, and listen to a band that was there. Dh wanted me to dance but no one was on the dance floor, he said no problem! We don't know anyone! While there someone noticed Dh's vest which had our hometown name on it. He said it was where he was from! Turns out Dh graduated with the guys brother!! Here we were 1000 miles frome home, and we run into someone that is from the same city!

Um...I have one. I was dating this loser for a few weeks about 7 years ago. I met his friend, Philip, and crushed on him (my parents wanted me to date him after they met him) I ended up breaking up with the loser and about a year later I ran into an old friend and her new boyfriend, they were actually on there 1st date. Well, the new boyfriend was my loser ex's friend, Philip! I was sooo shocked to see him again and my heart fluttered! To make a long story short - Philip proposed to me 28 days later and we are happily married and the proud parents of a Guatemalan Prince! (However, my girlfriend and I are no longer friends...she was quite unhappy about all of it.)

When we were visiting our daughter in Guatemala, a lady came up and asked us "So what do you think of my country?" We told her we were in LOVE with Guatemala and were having a great time. Conversation continued and we found out that she was just visiting family there and actually lives in the U.S. - about 10 minutes from our home here in Texas and actually works in the same hospital with my mother! <3
