Who else has just ONE baby or is adopting there first Baby

There has been a few threads on having 2 or 3 or 4 children....so I was wondering who has only ONE child. We just got home with our first daughter and I am already thinking about number two. My hubby just wants to focus on Kya Blu for now but knowing how long it took to get her I want to get started on number two in the next year or so. I am hoping for a birth sibling!!! Kya loves being with other children and I really want her to have siblings. Just wonder what everyone else is thinking

I really can't believe I am thinking about number TWO already after this crazy process....I must be NUTS haha

But I LOVE this HAPPY FACE and would love to have a whole house full of them

Well you KNOW my answer. I don't think there is ANY better gift you can give your child than a sibling to grow up with and love. I think the bond they share is the most amazing thing to stand back and watch. They're there for each other long after we can be there for them ourselves.

Now would you foster again? I thought about being in your shoes all the time when you were fostering Kya. I wondered if fostering the first child would be easier to work out than fostering a 2nd (or 3rd, 4th, or 5th LOL).

keep in mind that some people do not have the means to adopt two children. One child can also be a gift brought up in a loving home as only child

I have been thinking a lot about a second child lately, but DH is not ready. He wants to wait a few more years. Maybe we can compromise.

We're currently in process to bring our first child home, and to be honest we always believed we would adopt 2. Right now though we want to focus on Lucas and then maybe in another year or so think about number 2. Alot will depend on my health and our finances but if it's possible I imagine we'll start working on bringing our second child home!

I think if you are able to adopt more then go for it. I too am single and probably won't have the means financially to bring home another baby although I would love for my DD to have a sibling if I could. I think family size is a totally personal decision.

Your DD is gorgeous. Love the dimples!

We brought our son home in August 2006. He will be our one and only child. The reason is not financial since we could adopt more than one. We have numerous other reasons for only wanting one.

Frankly, I'm tired of people telling me we HAVE to have a second, you can't have just one, blah, blah, blah. It's not the people on this board saying it, just people we come across in my daily life. There are advantages and disadvantages to being an only child and being a child with siblings. I've read many studies on this subject. People are so opinionated and think their way is the only way that's right. We love our one and only and that's the way we intend to keep it! They DON'T need to tell me, he'll be spoiled, he won't have anyone to play with, he'll be lonely later in life, etc!!! WHEW!!! Thanks for letting me get that off my chest! Guess I need my morning coffee.

Well, I have more than one child. Two sons and our baby girl that we brought home in Sept. 06. And like you, I am already geared up to start again. However, my husband, like yours, would like to focus on Makyla for now, and has promised that next year, this time, we can start again. Lets hope that the Hague Implementation does not interfere!!! Best wishes to you!!!!

We also would like another child but probably won't start for another year. Number 1, we are not financially ready. Number 2, it just doesn't feel like the right time. My husband and I are just not ready. We definately want one or two more kids. Our next one will be at least 3 years apart from Emmi but I don't think that's a bad thing at all! She will be able to play the big sister role and I know she will love helping, plus we'll get to enjoy our children in their various stages of life.

I think there is nothing wrong with having an only child. The important thing is that the child is loved.

Husband and I both want to start the process for #2, but just can't make that final decision to. Jeremiah completes us and we would have no problem with him being our only child, but we also want him to have a sibling from Guatemala also. We are confussed!!! It's only been since August 2006 that we've had him home, but we want them close in age too...Such a hard decision. Good luck on your decision to adopt again and hopefully all of us can make a decision soon!
