OK as a northwestie this just flat out ... ughhhhhhhhh embassy! grrrrrrr I was talking about this today to some friends. Roll dice and see what you get - it might be better than what they say.

What could it be? It didn't get into particulars?

Hi

I live in Vancouver WA and this is close to where this family lives. Senator Maria Cantwell's office, Marsha Moore in particular, was VERY help to me. If you need her email address, let me know. Also, if you can contact this family, please pass along my email address. I'd love to connect.

From the news report the way I take it is the Embassy feels that with the family having 13 kids they do not feel that dads income (he is an insurance agent) is good enought to support his family. If you go to the article you can watch a video of the report and it gives a little more information.
So my question is
Isn’t this something that should have been caught at the Embassy when they were handing this family their PA?
This poor family, my heart just goes out to them. The ups and downs to get to this point and you would of never thougth that our Embassy would not issue VISA.

If they are concerned about that they should not have issued I171H. I hope it can be resolved soon. Anna

OH MY GOSH!!! Angie, thanks for posting this. I hadn't heard anything about it. Let us know if you find out that there is anything we can do to help. I don't understand what their reasoning is. They didn't really give much info. I'm glad to know that Problem Solvers are stepping in to help them out. I'm sure they're a nervous wreck right now. We definitely need to keep them in our prayers!!!

The family is with my agency and I pray things can get worked out so that they come home.

Oh, and FYI, the article states that they have 13 children and friends waiting for them. They don't have 13 children. I believe they have 6.

Wow Angie! How heartbreaking....how CRUEL especially when it's your own government! I hate that! They issued the PA obviously! Goodness! I wonder what is wrong? Would you mind posting any updates you hear on this? I'm really interested and want to know what happens next!

Thanks for sharing!

The guidelines are very clear for I 864 about exactly how much you have to make to support a family of 17 (I think that is how many they have--it did sound like they already have 13 children according to the news report). Either you make that income or you have to have property to make up the difference...I am not sure what the real issue is here.

The embassy doesn't review this until you apply for your Visa, and you turn in your I864 along with your tax returns and paystubs or employment letter...

I think their agency should have been on top of this long before they allowed them to adopt if there was even a question about it....

Becky thanks for information. If this is the case it sadden me to think the agency did not catch this.
Alf our agencys use the same people in GC. So I know that this family is in very good hands. Please if you could just let them or your agency know that alot of people are praying for them. Thanks
