Only one trip?

Anyone not able to do a visit prior to bringing their child home forever?

Due to childcare issues, Im not thinking we will be able to. Its going to be hard just to find people for our trip down there to pick up. Our families all work during the day, my oldest is in school, just alot of responsibility for 5 days for just a friend.

It will be hard.

Hey Amy, we are not able to do a visit trip. We are to strapped to afford it and also have 2 kids at home, it just wouldn't work for us. It's so hard to not be able to go down there and hold her, BUT I think it would be near impossible for me to leave her after I did. I also think that when they are infants the visit would be way more for you, then for them, as I don't think they would remember you months later anyway. In the end you have to do what is best for your whole family. She'll be in your arms for years to come!!

We did do a visit but, I know that there are many who don't. It was great to hold him and made me more confident as a first time mom. However, I certainly don't think that it is necessary at all. Had our parents not given us the money for the trip, we wouldn't have gone either. I agree that the visit trip is more for the parents than for the babies.

We are not visiting either....the process is moving faster than we thought it would and we are strapped for the money. I also can't stand the thought of leaving him once I hold him. I know the visit trip is more for myself than our son, so I feel ok about not doing it. But, boy, do I want to hold him!!!!!!

We didn't visit during our first adoption and we are not going to for this adoption. Both sides of our family gave us money this time to help out as we took a 2nd mortgage out for the first adoption. So my husband and I are saving the rest of the funds as we go so we do not have to take any more loans. Also, this time I'm going to pick up either with my aunt or cousin. My dad kept my daughter last time as she is very easy to watch, but now that I have a 4 and a 2 year old I don't think my dad can handle it. He has been sick lately and I don't want to put that pressure on him. My mom died back in 2003 otherwise she would do it. So my husband will stay home with our two little ones this time and my dad will come visit often to relieve him so he can get a break. I don't understand the break thing because I'm with my kids all day every day and have no trouble, but you know men. My husband attention span isn't the greatest so he will be going crazy before I board the plane. LOL Not to mention my son idolizes daddy and does not give him one minute of peace the whole time DH is home. It's very cute, but DH can't even go to the bathroom without Dante yelling DAD, DAD need you. LOL

No we are not visiting either. Just going for pick up. That alone is going to be hard since we are leaving my 79 year old father alone to go down. We just didn't think that we would be able to do 2 trips. Also some other issues such as money, time off from work etc....
Many just do pick up. We would have loved to have gone to visit but it was something that we were just unable to do.

We are not visiting either. My husband is in the medical field, and it is a lot for him to take off. We are saving those days for when we travel to get our precious one, and for our first days at home. Like many of you have said, we felt the visit trip would be mostly for us, not the baby, and we can't stand the thought of leaving him. I will admit though, as the days pass, it is getting harder and harder to wait to see/hold him. Praying all of our babies are home soon.

I am not visitng either--although the process is going slower than I thought it would. I really want to hold her, but I know there is NO way I could visit and then leave her! I know there is no way my son would let me leave her and there is no way I can leave my son at home. Also, I want to have time off work when she gets home so I need to save! However, I really want to see her and oh, I miss her!!!
