What type of stroller did you take on pick up? 5hr middle of the night layover
My husband spent 3 hours and finally found the cheapest tickets he could find...our dividend points did not work so we are stuck putting it on our credit card. BUT we have a 5 hour layover in Chicago in the middle of the night. We leave Gaut at 8:30pm and get to Pittsburgh at 8:30am. I want Gabi to be comfortable and am thinking of taking a regular stroller instead of an umbrella stroller...what do you think? Did you take a stroller?

Jennifer,
In the case of yout layover time and the fact that it is in the middle of the night, I would take a regular stroller. I can't wait to see that you're home.

Stroller
We shopped around for the most comfy lightweight stroller and ended up going with the Combi stroller. It is lightweight with a shoulder carrying strap but also lays fully flat for those comfy little baby naps :-) It's not as big as a regular stroller but it works really well. It's actually the only stroller we have besides a jogging stroller.

I second the Combi strollers. We brought our Combi down to Guatemala in Sept. when we were visiting our son. We had our 15 month old daughter with us and she needs to have a stroller that is comfortable for her. I still use the Combi, it is very light and is easy to open and close. I think we paid around $100. We have the Combi Cosmo DX. My daughter has enough room to lay down comfortably and we loved it going through the airports. So, if you want a light weight, and comfortable stroller the Combi is a great one to get.

Jennifer... I found a very inexpensive stroller ($19.00)that was much sturdier than the typical umbrella - not sure I can post the store, but itis one of the 'big-box' stores that begins with a W.
google Cosco Deluxe Comfort Ride Stoller... this one folds in half... I carried it down in its box, put it together there, and brought it back folded up in the suitcase since I was just visiting. It has a mesh basket underneath which was also a nice touch.. I tried to copy a picture from the website, but it wouldnt let me upload once I saved it...check it out.

We also took a cheap (under $20) stroller which is very light weight and folds that we got from babys r us (I bubble wrapped it on the way down and it went with the luggage) and then on the way back wecould use it right up to the gate (they stowed and it was at the plane side when we arrived). We also took it to the pick up at the consulare. It was a life saver as our baby had spent lots of time in stroller and intially prefered it to being carried and at our appointment it was intially very crowded. It was pretty comfortable for our 11 month old and we recently used it again.

I also brought the Combi and it is a great stroller but the rack underneath to stow things is kinda small but should do fine for the layover.
Have a wonderful trip!

I used the combi in Guatemala and in Europe with the baby. It was great. It reclines and has a canopy and he was very comfortable. Best of all, it folds easily and is light. I highly recommend it for travel.

I think you would need something pretty comfy that she would be able to sleep in.
I am just so thrilled that she's finally coming home! I noticed that you said you would arrive in Pittsburgh. Is that the area that you live in? We live in Ohio..near Youngstown. Maybe we are fairly close? Lisa |
