Our adoption experience has been both challenging and amazing (as I'm sure all of yours has been). We are crazy about our little one and it's hard to remember what life was like before. We fell in love with Guatemala. I actually dream about it. My question is this- how can I give back to my son's country? I don't mean that in an arrogant, they're so poor- we're so rich kind of way. I really love this place and want him to feel proud. I'm sure this has been brought up numerous times, but does anyone have any ideas of how to get involved?!

I bumped up a couple threads the other day about organizations that work in Guatemala. Whether it be donations, sponsoring a child, or mission trips. I take a look and see if I can get them back up to the top.

There are lots of Peace Corps activities going on. I am a professional in the water industry and our professional organization establishes working water systems in the villages. There are the stove projects as well. PM me if you are interested in links to Peace Corps folks that are involved in the water projects (through Wisconsin Water Association - Water For People) or the stove projects.

I hate to post asking for people to get involved - but I do feel that Water For People and the Peace Corps are doing such incredible things to make life better for the Villages.
