Good news! I received an email from the agency. They hadn't received our email or app, which is apparently why we didn't hear anything. The director is calling tomorrow to answer my questions! Things are definitely looking up, and hopefully we'll be starting the timeline which will lead us to our son!

I spoke with the director, and I am very impressed. They had an Email problem, so they didn't receive my prior correspondence (now I feel like a jerk!)

If we proceed, we are definitely using this agency!

My agency's director is in Guatemala for the same time period. He goes down to check on the foster care and the babies (he even sends pictires back), he checks in with all the attornies and follows-up on any issues that needs to be done hands on in country.

I like that he personally goes and visits each of the children in his care. He will respond to e-mail when he is away.

My understanding is that there is no decision as to a shut down of adoptions in Guatemala. The US is waiting to see if Guatemala is going to conform and IF they don't THEN there will be shut down. It is not a situation in which there is definitely going to be a shut down of adoptions, but there could be.
