Another Quick Question

I was just wondering how you all got the money to adopt. I mean I know we are either going to have to take out a loan or something to get the money but whatever works I guess. Maybe I should start some fun raisers lol!

Whatever it takes to get my baby.

We took out a home equity loan. (I wasn't good looking enough to be an exotic dancer for the extra cash....)

My situation is pretty different

My DH is currently deployed overseas, so we're saving our extra pay (family separation, imminent danger, etc) and I'm saving all of the pay from my job. If we were in the civilian world, I really wouldn't have any ideas.

Hmmm... for the agency fee and the first part of the Guat program fee, we wiped out the savings account. Then we charged some stuff (DNA tests), some was pay as you go (I-600A fee, FedXing stuff and authenticating documents). When things got rough (lost the first referral and the Guat lawyer took $2k), we raided a small IRA. For the pick up trup, we are going to charge it, and then pay that off with an adoption grant from my husband's company.

We never really had 30k just sitting around to use for the adoption. I wish we did, it would have saved us from many sleepless nights.

So what is the going rate for exotic dancers these days?

We still have the readoption and post-placement to go. Maybe I could temp as a few hours of pole-dancer.

LMAO! Thanks for all the help ladies. My husband was talking about redo-ing our home loan and getting it for more. (we wanted to redo it anyways) So maybe I could just ask for like $30,000 more and that would help? I know that it is going to cost around 30k I am just hoping that that will cover it all. What do you guys think?

Stephanie,
That should cover it, I think. That is what we did. Actually, we won't use all of the amount that we applied for, but we threw in some extra just because we didn't know exactly what all the hidden expenses were. We made it up to PGN and it didn't run out yet, so I guess we did OK!
Good luck on your journey. It it a very exciting and wild ride! I am glad you discovered this board. The people on here provide a wealth of info on any question you might have. I only wish I had found out about it much sooner~~we were already in PGN by the time I happened upon it.
Welcome!
Cindy

Forget the cookbooks and yard sales - we gotta better plan

You guys are so funny - Guatemalan pasties! Do you think we could order them on the internet? Maybe I'll earn more tips. Waht did Gypsy Rose Lee say? You gotta have a gimmick?

I think I'll have to practice pole dancing in the basement, on the support column. But I dropped out dancing as an 8 yr old - this might not be good. Hope the column holds........

Stephanie- 30K should cover it, we hope.

Rachael
