Evenflo or Britax

Hi all...

We have an Evenflo booster/5pt. harness for our little girl, but we're in need of another car seat. I'm wondering which brand you all like and why...

We have an almost new Costco Alpha Omega and an older, passed down Britax-- hands down I like the Britax. It's easier to use and for whatever reason (haven't quite figured this one out yet) just quicker in and out. The straps always seem to have something going on the Costco. We will be purchasing the next Britax when we need one that goes past 40#. I know they are a lot more expensive and I even said, "why would I ever spend that much more on a carseat?". Ours was free, but I'd spend the money in a heartbeat to have the nice one.

Britax. It has the best safety rating.

Britax has best safety rating. I have the Boulevard and it is good up to 65 pounds, so it will pay for itself in the long run (most others require new one after 40 lbs) .

We have the Britax Decathalon, and we are getting ready to now buy the Marathon for our 15 month old daughter. This is a great carseat and is rated one of the safest carseats. So, thumbs up the Britax carseats.

Our son isn't home yet so I haven't even used the thing yet, but we bought the Britax Marathon because of it's safety rating. They are expensive but you can use them up to 65 pounds and there is no price for safety!

Britax!!!
We also have a graco allsport and my DD really prefers the britax very comfortable, easy to adjust for coats and a growing baby, also easy installation and of course safe.

Evenflo Triumph has the highest rating. Consumer Reports last evaluation posted concerns about Britax Marathon.

We have the Britax Marathon. I guess I like it, but I have nothing to compare it too. One thing I noticed is that it is big, so if you are going to use it rear facing in a car that does not have a lot of rear seat leg room, the person in the front seat better not be very tall, because the front seat needs to be forward to fit it properly (rear-facing only...the issue goes away once it is forward facing). We had this issue with DH's Mazda Protoge (DH is 6'3")...until we got our new car. It seems like a smaller carseat would have fit better. The good side of a big car seat is that he can use it longer.

Evenflo has the same security ratings that Britax has and is less expensive. I love both that we bought. YOu can see the reviews in the HIghway Safety Transportation site. They evaluate every car seat and rate them by security, easy to install, easy to read instructions, etc....

We were ready to buy a Britax and then when I discovered this site and reviewed all the rates we decided to buy two Evenflo with much less money.

Just an addition to my previous post about the concerns about the Britax. The Britax Marathons that had safety concerns and were eventually recalled last year were from 2002-2004 so if you bought one this year, it should be fine.

I absolutely love my Britax! We have two - the Marathon in one car and the Roundabout in the other. We are buying another one this weekend for the new baby! I love them for so many reasons. One of the best features is that it allows the babies to sit up high and they can see out of the windows clearly when they are forward facing. Love them!
