We're home with our son!
Hi all,
We had an easy pick-up trip and just wanted to share a little. We let the atty help us with the Embassy paperwork the night before the appt. which took maybe 10 minutes to fill out. We waited about and hour and 1/2 at the Embassy to be called up, and I cried when the embassy officer told us to raise our right hand. My daughter was with us for the trip which I would highly recommend. The Marriot is perfectly comfortable and the staff was great. We did upgrade to a Junior Suite on the 9th floor right across from the Concierge room which worked out nicely. No attachment problems with Mateo yet, even though he was very close to both the FM and FD, and their kids. So far he is very easy going. We took the Foster family out for dinner in GC at a place called the Hacienda Real and had an awesome meal! We were in GC for the weekend so on Sunday we hired a tour guide and went to Lake Atitlan and Chichicastenango which was as beautiful as I remembered from the 80's. The earthquake happened right when we arrived at the lake but we barely felt it compared to people in GC. Anyway, PM me if you want the name of a great tour guide or if you need a translator (although she's not cheap!) I hope you all have a smooth remainder of your PGN to Pink experience! All my angst about the process is melting away as we make the transition into parenting a little one. Now I just worry about the future of all those children in Guatemala who need loving homes!
