Notarized passport and IR-4 visa??

I am reading so much stuff, I don't know who is right.

Does you need to have the notarized passport if you did not visit? My agency says no, its only if you visit.

And I am assuming they need these when you are submitted to the Consulate for Pink.

Thanks so much. I am stressing even more now!

Becky

Hi Becky,

You do not need to have a notorized passport if you did not visit. They only need this to submit for pink if you visited and will get an IR3 visa.

Good luck!

Jodi

Thanks Jodi
I just keep reading some people say you do and we are suppose to be submitted on Monday for Pink. If we don't get kicked out I think I'm going to bring copies just in case.

And Congrats to you!! Have a wonderful trip!

Thanks
Becky

OK.....one week ago our agency contacted us that we needed to have a notarized copy of our passport even though we did not visit as the attorney in Guatemala had contacted them that the EMBASSY is requiring it.

So we have notarized copies of our passport......and will get them to Guatemala and hopefully it will help us get our of PGN......will try anything!!!!! Melodie

I think you do need them

We are probably going to have to do an IR-4 and our agency did require notarized copies of our passports. Good luck figuring it out. I say better to be safe and do it.

I dont know for sure because we visited and we needed the notarized copies, but maybe you should do it to be safe. Did you ask your agency?

Thanks everyone

I asked when I completed another I600 and my agency says no. I guess I will wait and see if we get kicked out or not accepted at the Amer Consulate on Monday. Its too late to get notarized passports to Guatemala by Monday.

Why can't anything be clear?? That is what the frustrating part of it all. How hard is it clearly state what you need. Sorry, it is just so frustrating!

We did not make a visit trip, just exited PGN and were told that notarized copies of our passports WERE necessary for the Embassy to issue pink and set appointment. I beleive this is a new requirement that just ent into effect in the last month or so. GO ahead and have your passports notarized - most banks do it for free if you have an acciunt with them.
Best wishes!

Thanks again!
I plan on making the copies today and getting them ready to overnight to Guatemala if we don;t get accepted at the Embassy tomorrow.

I really do appreciate all your input!

I believe the date that this went into effect was...

11/27/06.

It is further proof that the child has been visited by the AP's.

I am not sure at what point in the process the Embassy wants this though. At the time the appointment is set or when you actually go to the appointment.

I know you have to show PP's at the time of the Embassy appointment to prove you have visited.

I am sure everything will be fine.. It is nerve-wracking when you are so close to the finalization.

Best Wishes,

LJ
