Our carryon bag was a backpack. When I adopted my daughter from Kazakhstan, I took this cute little over the shoulder diaperbag as my carron. After flying from Aktobe, Kaz to Almaty, Kaz to Ekaterinberg, Russia to London, England (spend the night), to Houston, Texas.... I tossed that diaper bag out and got a backpack style one. If you wear you baby in the front and a backpack for your carryon, you'll have BOTH hands free! I kept my passport and tickets in a fannypack and wore slip on sandles. It worked great for our pickup!

Lionbird - I think you can take one of the travel bottle warmers carry-on. You know - the ones where you press the gel pack and it heats up. There is nothing mechanical in those. To "reenergize" for a second bottle you can ask the stewardess to microwave it. I would double check that it is permitted, of course. We bought one for visit trip so we could warm in the room and it turns out DS likes his bottles room temp so I never even opened the package. Hey, what's your address, I could send ours??
