Another G-884 question
I have another question about the G-884. We mailed our I600-A to the Cincinnati office. We re-entered the US in Atlanta. Where do I send the G-884? I've heard several different stories. I've heard to send it where you re-entered the US. I've heard the same place you sent your I-600A. I've heard somewhere in Buffalo, and I've heard Missouri!! So, where do I send it? Also, for those of you who have received yours back, was there really much additional info than there was from the FC interview you received in the pink packet at the Embassy?
Thanks, Tiffany

you need to send to wherever the last action on your adoption was done. Usually it is where your COC comes from..
It doesnt matter where you entered the US or where your INS comes from. Doretta

Personally I would send it to your local office - where you would submit your I600A. They seem to be able to determine where the file is and forward it to the correct place. If I have the process figured out (BIG IF!) the file goes from your port of entry to Buffalo NY, and eventually makes its way to the National Records Center in Lee's Summit NJ.
Buffalo is probably also a safe bet, but I would suggest your local office. A lot of what we received was duplicates, but we did get the origional DNA photos, and some other photos of my kids as well as their birthmothers that I had never seen before. We did get some additional paperwork as well.

I tried sending mine to my local office and they sent it back saying I needed all this other information, paperwork.. and money!!!
Then I talked to Mia's Daddy and he told me to send it to Buffalo(where my COC came from) and i got all the paperwork back in 30 days or so.. Doretta

Money?! Sounds like they have no idea what they are talking about! It depends on how long your child has been home, where the packet is. My son's packet came from Buffalo and my daughter's from Lee's Summit NJ. And my daughter had only been home three months longer than my son. That is why I recommend sending it through your local office, so they can check where the packet is and forward the request to the right place. But that is assuming your local office knows what they are doing! I have talked to a ton of people about this, and everyone has success and failure stories from sending it to different locations. Like most things with USICS (or any govt. agency!) it seems to totally depend on the person whose hands your request lands in and whether THEY know what they are doing.
