Well, here I am trying to figure out how I can come up with the money to adopt my little man. I applied for grants when we got eli, but we had more money then and were adopting a healthy baby. Now, neither of those things are true and I am just trying to decide if applying for the grants all over again is a viable option. IF YOU RECEIVED A GRANT< WOULD YOU PLEASE PM me...if you don't mind, and tell me which grant you got and what your experience was like.

Nope and we applied for many of them....and we don't have a high income either. I was disappointed in it actually. Most of them charge fees too.

I don't remember which organization, but one of them recently posted biographies of their most recent grant award winners. Honestly, their stories were all so truly humbling that I can see why DH and I will never receive a grant. (Also, I'm not trying to minimize anyone's circumstances, please don't misinterpret my post.)

Nothing major, but some of our finances for the last portion are NOT coming through and I'm slightly nervous about coming up with the money. With hubby deployed, we were under the impression that we'd get a little more than we are AND we were also told that he'd be promoted soon ... well, SOMEHOW they lost records of his promotion points so that is a big chunk of money we were expecting that's not coming through.

I KNOW we'll figure it out. But, as a lot of you probably remember my parents paid 2/3 of the adoption cost and they are also buying a new house in Arizona to retire too. I know they'd never let the adoption fall through and I also know that for many of the grants you have to "tap out" family and friends ... well, in my opinion, my family is tapped out. I don't want it to come to that and so I was hoping with military ties, we might have some luck.

But, like Mindy said, you have to pay to apply and it's hard to shell out even $20 for each one when money is getting so tight!!!

We applied for everything as well. We have a modest income and adopted a special needs child and didn't receive any grants.
