For my husbands reimbursement form for work it says we need to attach the adoption decree. What is that??? We have refinalized and just received our final order of adoption letter...do we send that? We did bring him home on a IR3 (we visited).
I am just not sure what to send. Everything that we got from Guatemala is with our attorney and it is all in Spanish...Help! ![]()

The approved pgn decree is what we sent in.
I called a couple of weeks ago to ask if they needed anything further and she said they had everything they needed. It was in Spanish, and I also sent a copy a copy of her guatemalan bc and her bc with our names listed as parents that we got on pick up trip.

Bumping for more responses. I am getting ready to send mine in too, I am interested to see what others did for their employer reimbursements. I was thinking it is the Protocolo that they want...and they say they want a stamped original, not a copy. I do not really want to let the stamped original out of my sighe.

I sent copies, but did have them notarized. Just to be safe.

We used the PGN decree too. In my mind, the Protocolo is what is really important, because the birthmother can change her mind up until that signing, regardless of what PGN says. But to try to explain that to someone not familiar with the process is kind of impossible. It is just easier to use the PGN decree and not try.
I know we didn't give them an origional, but I can't remember if we just submitted a copy, or maybe even just faxed it to someone. We do have translations though. We were very lucky that neither my husband's employer or our insurance company gave us any problems at all.

Do you think that the final order of adoption from the US will work in place of the adoption decree???

The Protocolo is the actual adoption decree. Our attorney provided us with translations of all important documents. We have been able to use copies of those.
I would think if you've re-finalized that it's even easier! |

we sent in a copy of the protocolo with the English translations along with the GC BC.
our son's reimbursement thru military did take alittle longer than my daughter's adoption. for her adoption (fost/adopt USA) we submitted the adoption order that the US court house gave us and her new BC (I believe). the reimbursement folks told me that for international it takes them longer to process than domestic orders (i guess more to investigate and look at). so i'm sure your USA adoption order would be fine to submitt....you can always just submitt the protocolo along with it and a note stating this is the adoption order for Guatemala.
