Can the birthmother change mind after...
the birth certificate has been issued in the adopting parents' names? As in when you go for the pick up trip?
Thanks!

i don't think so....but this whole game is full of rule changes
i guess it depends when your birthmom signs off for the last time. after she signs off the 4th and final time, she can not change her mind. some people's atty's have the moms do this via poa during pgn, but ours wasn't signed off until a week after we exited pgn. ask when your agency when your atty typically does this. |

After the new birth certificate has been issued, no, she can not. The order of things is
1. exit PGN 2. birthmother signs the Protocolo - her fourth and final signature - and you are now legally the child's parents 3. ew birth certificate is requested and issued with you listed as parents. Sometimes attorneys do have birthmother sign a POA at DNA or Family Court so they do not have to come back for the final signature. I have some issues with this being done (though my son's birthmother did sign one) but that is an issue for another thread. ![]()

Supposedly not, but there is someone on this board posted awhile back that they had lost a child after the BC. The Bmom showed at the Foster mothers house and disappeared with the baby. I don't think it was legal for her to do it. That's the only case that I have heard of that happeneing though.

Yes, there is a regular poster who had the birthmother kidnap their child after the new birth certificate was issued. It was definetly not legal. After she has signed for the fourth and final time, you are legally the parents.
tybeemuffin - I love your new avatar picture! She looks like she has grown a lot!

Thanks for posting the whole picture! The dress is BEAUTIFUL - as is your daughter! I love the cream/white with the flowers. Absolutely stunning!
My daughter had her one-year picture in a red dress we brought back and her two-year picture in a blue dress we brought back. Now I feel the need to go shopping for a cream one for her three-year pictures. Might just have to make a quick trip to Guatemala! ![]()

I shouldn't worry so much, but I was wondering.

Usually if a BMom is going to change her mind, it is up until the DNA is done. Some change their minds because they have to see & hold the baby for the DNA photo. It does sometimes happen later, but not often. Try not to worry about things you can't control, otherwise, you will drive yourself crazy. |

I bet your B-Mom already signed a POA after the DNA was done.... Ask your agency they should know... And It's one less thing to worry about Ann
