??? Abby is sick Need advice

About 3 weeks ago, we took Abby to the dr. the dr. said that she had a sinus infection. So, they put her on Antibiotics for 10 days, at the end she was still had a runny nose, sneezing, was very hoarse and the coughing was worse. So we took her back last Friday and they said the infection was gone but her tonsils were very swollen and her throat was very red. So, they gave us some cough medicine. So, yesterday morning about 4am she woke up coughing really hard and I went to get her some water and some medicine and when I came back and turned on the light I noticed that there was vomit everywhere. So, today no vomit until tonight right before I put her down for bed. She came to the kitchen crying and practically laying on my legs then all of a sudden she vomited in the kitchen floor and it kept coming. I am talking about projectile vomiting. So, yesterday morning I thought that maybe she had vomited because she was coughing so hard that it made her vomit. But, tonight was totally different it was like she coughed because she was about to vomit. So, I wonder if that is really what happened yesterday morning?

My question is what could this be? Could it be a virus with her vomiting this far apart? Or what?

It is cold and flu season. I would (considering she had an infection a few days ago per MD diagnosis) call your pedi in the am and have her seen again. Otherwise, I would be inclined to think that it is probably just the flu.

Hope she feels better soon!

The first round of antibiotics may not have cured her. She may still have an upper respiratory infection. Zithromax is great for that. Did they give her amoxicillan?

Strep Throat??

Everytime my oldest gets strep throat, she vomits. The vomiting is very intermittent (like maybe once in a day)....I don't know, its a thought.

No idea other than to say you need to get her back to the pediatrician right away.

Beth,
Abby is such a doll. It has been a long time since I have seen any of her pictures. Please let us know what the doctor says! It sounds like flu but I am by no means a doctor.

There is no fever. She does seem to have a sore throat. The vomiting has only happened 2 times. She did take a round of amoxicillan. She has already been 2 times and it is like fighting with a wild cat taking her to the dr. She screams and cries the whole time. I am talking once you turn down the street that the dr is located on she will begin to scream. Lord help what do I do? I hate to keep taking her to the dr. when she hates it so much.

I can sympathize, Chloe has been to the dr. 29 times since we brought her home in April.
She has been on an antibiotic the entire time.
Just got finished with 28 days of cefzil on friday and woke up Sunday as though she has never even been on it. She has asthma so with the coughing she intermittently throws up. They put her on prevacid and it helps the throwing up, but still coughs all the time even with 4 breathing treatments a day.
She hates the dr.'s so bad, that her pulminologist has gotten to where she takes off her white coat before she enters the room and it actually helps. She looks like a normal woman and Chloe doesn't cry, now fighting her to take all the meds is a whole different story.
I would definitely take her back, it is possible that the 1st antibiotic wasn't strong enough and if its strep throat, all 4 of my children throw up and have headaches when they have strep throat. Not all antibiotics clear up strep, so they could possibly be it.
Good luck to you!!
Please let us know what you find out.

I agree that she may need a different antibiotic. Amoxicillan doesn't seem to cure a lot of things these days. Marisol had bronchitis last year and took amoxicillian, a month later it was back. She then was given zithromax and this cleared it up. Abby should be tested for strep. Some kids don't run a fever with it. Also the swollen tonsils can trigger the gag reflex and cause vomiting. I have had this with my older dd. I would take her back to the dr and ask them to do a throat culture.
