Need help,

Without going into too much detail and telling you all the reasons I need help. Does anyone know or can they find out an estimate of how much these things cost:

1. Translation of documents for birth mother and child for DNA Authorization

2. DNA Authorization

3. DNA Testing on Guat side

4. Translation of POA for family court submission

Please PM me if you can help.

Thanks

$$

In California, It's $20 per document for authorization and $10 per document at the Guatemalan consulate. For DNA, I had to pay $420 to the agency but didn't have to pay anything extra for translation on the Guat. side. Hope that helps.

Let me clarify,

The costs that I am asking about are the costs that the attorney has to pay in Guatemala for the case to be processed. I know what it costs on the US side,

Thanks

There have been a number of threads in the past about the Guatemalan side costs for services.

I don't recall ever seeing a reply showing an actual breakdown of those fees.

If I had to guess I would say that the fees for all of the items you mentioned combined would be less than $200 US dollars because the work entailed is hired help and the costs are wages for these folks (except maybe the actual blood draw for the DNA; that would be a conflict of interest)

The last instance i recall someone asking for this was during a readoption when thier state asked for this amount of detail. I'm pretty sure they didn't get that detail though and I don't know what the outcome was... sorry I can't help more. BTW, I just readopted my children and was never asked for this info.

Thanks for the post. Actually, I am sure that it is a lot more. It costs about $50 a document for translation and going through the notarial system. And it costs money to submit paperwork to family court, etc. This is a Guat side question that most people probably dont know the answer to. But it was worth a shot. My assumption is that DNA steps and family cort steps cost the attorneys a few thousand dollars.

I was told about $50 per document to get it translated & authenticated in Guatemala also - actually I think translation is per page - $10 per page if I remember right. Filing a case in Family Court costs several hundred dollars I was told. I'm not sure if it costs to get into PGN, but I think it does. The Embassy visit costs the attorney around $40 I believe and the passport they pay for also. DNA authorization also costs, I believe, so yes, a few thousand would sound right.
