Question about DNA authorization

I've been hearing of people getting DNA authorization rejected because the picture of the baby with the birth mother wasn't good enough. So do all babies have their pictures taken with their birth mother before DNA? Ours did, but I didn't know that was the norm. I have heard of so many people not getting pictures of their birth mother with the baby before DNA.

Hi Kelly. I believe it is a rule that at least one picture of both the child and the birthmom together must be taken for DNA purposes. In our case, 2 pictures were taken (nearly identical) but I only received the original Polaroid of 1 of them; the other was a photocopy. I assume the other original went into an embassy or LabCorp file. As for people not receiving the photos, I do not believe it is because the photo was never taken, I think it is probably an oversight or that the photo went to another interested party instead of them. HTH.

Is it DNA authorization rejected or DNA pre-approval rejected? I wasn't aware that a picture was taken before the birthmom came in for the actual DNA procedure.. I know they take a picture then..

Perhaps I am a little confused as well - I thought that in order to get DNA authorization, the attorneys had to present a file including your forms (171H; G28; notarized e-mail form; etc), a copy of baby's birth certificate and a picture of the bmom (alone in most cases) and possibly other docs at the US Embasssy. It is this picture of Bmom that has been rejected for not being professional enough. Then at the DNA test, they take a polaroid picture of bmom holding baby.

Well I thought it was as DNA authorization when the facilitator goes to the US Embassy to request authorization, right? Isn't this one of the things that is getting denied lately? The photo of the birth mom (or birth mom and baby) not being clear enough, against the right color background, etc? What is the DNA pre-approval Marcy? I didn't know about that one.

Kelly:

I think Marcy was just referring to Pre-Approval, which is obviously dependent on DNA test results being submitted by the Lab to the US Embassy. So, Marcy was asking if the denials for unsatisfactory pictures were in connection with DNA authorization (when, as far as I know, the picture required to be submitted is of bmom alone) or for PA (when the required picture has bmom holding baby).

You are correct that people have been denied DNA authorization because the bmom photo did not meet recently enacted new Embassy standards. I have not heard anyone being denied DNA authorization for bmom-baby photo issues (and I do not think such a photo is required at that stage). I have also not heard anyone being denied PA for DNA test photo of bmom and baby not meeting standards.

It's a solo picture of the birthmom that has been rejected when the attorney's are trying to get DNA authorization from the US embassy. There is no photo of birthmom with child before DNA authorization that I know of.

Ok now I get it a bit better. Thanks!! We got pictures of our birth mother with our baby at referral, so that's what confused me.
