Question 2nd Adoption

Hi,

I was on the forum a lot back in 2004 when I adopted my son. I never thought I'd do it again, but here I am gearing up for a second adoption.

I can't wait to be apart of the board that helped me make a lot of friends and get through my first adoption.

How are things going in Guatemala these days? I'm in the very early stages as in I'm just filing my I600A this week and getting my home study completed.

Anyone from the Philadelphia area adopting? If so how is the Phila office these days?

Well, I can't wait to meet everyone and talk to some old friends,
Pam

Welcome back to the forum. I'm not from Philadelphia, but I do hope that everything moves quickly and smoothly for you from start to finish.

welcome back

we are in the process of adopting our 3rd.

sent in i600A a month ago and waiting for the I797C to come back any day.

we live outside of philadelphia near the KOP mall.

Guatemala is filled with a ton of uncertainty now - i will be glad when our children are home and we are done with the process for a while.

PGN is very slow - PA's are about 30 days from DNA match and many have been in PGN like us for over 100 days with 2 or more KO's for the most ridiculous things.

i pray and hope that the Hague will help clear up this mess and put some solid systems into place. it would be great if things were not so vague and everyone had to file the same paperwork, with the same writing and there was a set time frame for each step - except for cases that need investigation. sad they can't figure that out before we all get involved too deep in the process. oh well - dreaming out loud.

good luck and again enjoy the bumpy ride!

maybe we will meet at a PA gathering sometime!

We live in Allentown and used the Phila office earlier this summer.

We submitted our I-600a August 16th
We got printed Sept 16th.
The home study got submitted Sept 22.
We got our 797 Oct 2nd.

This was out second adoption with the Phila office in under 13 months, so we are wondering is that sped this up a little bit.

Hi Pam -
Welcome back! We are also beginning our 2nd adoption and live in the Philly area. We are south of the city on the PA/DE border. We've been waiting for our I797C for exactly 3 weeks. I've been hearing anywhere from 3-6 weeks for approvals.

We have a Fall Beginners buddy group around here too if you like to join us.

Hi Pam--good to see you again! We are working on our second adoption as well (our fifth child, though). Joseph, our youngest son, has been such a blessing to us!

Although things are a bit up in the air right now because of the impending Hague, it looks like the US won't take any action until halfway through 2007, and from my information, as long as you have your I-600a filed by then, you will be okay. Of course, who knows what Guatemala may do in the meantime...

Hope you have a smooth journey!
Carolyn

Hi Barb,

I'd love to join the fall beginners group. I don't live far from the PA/DE line. I take my kids to DuPont a lot for check ups. Thanks
