Guatemalan Embassies (Atlanta, Miami)

I have to mail some documents to these 2 embassies for authenticating this upcoming week. Does anyone have any experience with these 2 offices? How long it takes? Anyone know services/businesses that will hand deliver your documents for a fee? PM if you need to.

Melissa

I'm assuming you mean consulates? I had documents that went through Miami and it took about a week. Then, when we did our POA the Atlanta office opened and I just took it there myself. I left it with them in the morning and was able to pick it up in the afternoon. I could be wrong, but I remember something about the Miami consulate closing when the Atlanta one opened up. You may want to check on that. I could have had a dream about it though because I'm not sure why that's in the back of my mind!

We just took docs to Atlanta on the 26th. My mom took all of our dossier for baby #2 and pleaded with the guy to do them for her while she waited. He was very nice and did them just before his lunch break--no one else was in the room to be waited on at the time.

He said they generally make people come back the next day now to pick up their documents. He showed her a huge stack of paperwork waiting to be done and mailed out in the next few days. He said there had been a large increase in adoption paperwork since summer when we took our first dossier.

I sent my stuff to Atlanta via Express Saver FedEx (with a return Express Saver FedEx) a couple weeks ago and had my stuff back 5 days after I sent it.

Thanks for the info. Just in case anyone was wondering. I do know the Atlanta Consulate is new and deals with South Carolina and North Carolina documents (They used to go to Miami). The Miami Consulate is still open and deals with Florida documents.

Miami and other consulates

I live in the Miami area so my Mother went in person. They told her to leave them and come back the next day. She said "NO NO NO! I was told not to let them out of my sight". They laughed and told her to have a seat they would get them done for her.
I had to send paperwork to the consulates in NYC and LA and I had all the papers back in my hand within 5 business days.
The Miami office stamped each paper in each package with a number and the seal. They folded the top of the State of Florida form and stamped the seal half on their form and half on back of State form. The other consulates stamped the form (one sheet) half on the white paper they attach and half on the form we sent in and nothing else.
I was dying because someone had told me I wasn't allowed to take the papers apart to copy them so I copied them prior to going to each place ,then I saw each page stamped from the consulate. NO WAY could I copy them without taking them apart. The agency told me to take it apart carefully and staple back very close to the original staple.
