We are first time parents and my sister gave me the book "caring for your baby and young child" which goes over everything to expect from birth to age 5. I really like the book, and frequently refer to it when I want reassurances of what is 'normal' at each stage. It goes through basic care, feeding, growth, play, devlopment, etc.
We visited our baby for the 2nd time at 5 months and we did not pay enough attention to the schedule that the FM has and he was up all night. We learned from that. The FM said he was sleeping 8-9 hours at nighht with 2 short naps, and was starting to have pureed fruit and cereal along with his bottle.

My little guy is 6 months today! Here's his schedule. He's been on this schedule for about a week. It varies slightly each day, but this is pretty close.
6:00-6:30 - Wake up have 7 ounces of formula 7:30-8:00 - Lays down for morning nap 8:30-9:00 - Wakes up 10:30 - Eats 1/4 cup Rice Cereal and 7 ounces of formula 11:30-12:00 - Lays down for afternoon nap 1:30-2:30 - Wakes up 2:30 - Eats a Vegetable and 7 ounces of formula 4:45-5:00 - Lays down for evening nap 6:00-6:30 - Wakes up 7:15 - Eats a Vegetable and 7 ounces of formula 8:15 - Bath (every other day) 8:45-9:00 - Lays down for the night Right now he's only on two foods (sweat potatoes and green beans) Our FM didn't start him on any food, so it will take us a little bit to get him caught back up. We get to start a new food on Friday. I'm thinking peas. ![]() In between the food and sleeping, we go out shopping, play in our exersaucer, get tummy time to play, play with his play mats. Let me know if you have any questions. I'm a first time mom too, so I'm just doing the best I can. We go to his regular pediatrician tomorrow, so I guess I'll find out if I'm doing anything wrong!! My baby's schedule was similar to Alexander's at 6 months, except that my guy is small (about 5th percentile), so he could only eat 6 oz. bottles, and 2 solid servings per day.
Hopefully your FM has him on a good sleep schedule! My baby has slept well for us from the start. |
