Question Readoption in Ohio?

I don't have my baby home yet, but we were submitted for pink, so hopefully he will be home in the next 2 weeks. Just wondering what is involved in the readoption process in Ohio? My son will be coming home on an IR3 visa since my hubbie and I visited. Thanks!

Contact your local court house. In cleveland they have a room/magistrate just for adoptions. They can send you all the paperwork. It costs about $150.00 but it will be worth it. It will translate the bith certificat into english which will make things easer when you register for school.

Definetly check with your local courthouse. It can vary greatly from one county to the next. I know CR653 was having a hard time a couple weeks ago with her daughter's readoption because the judge wanted a birthfather search done! Flops posted the Ohio code on her last thread about it.

Edited to add: Here is a link to Cris's thread and Flops response. Hopefully you won't have any issues!

readoption...birthfather?...listing in paper? HELP!

Recognition of Adoption

Ohio Is One Of The States That Recognizes A Foreign Adoption. Since You Are Coming Home On An Ir3, All You Have To Do Is A Recognition Of A Foreign Adoption In Your State And A New Birth Certificate With The Name Change Will Be Issued. Do A Recognition Because Its Cheaper Than A Readoption.
