Nature was the one that decided we would stop at 2 bio children. Both are girls and I always knew I wanted to parent a boy also (don't get me wrong, I love my girls). Abe has been the best addition to our family!!

We decided to adopt after over two years of researching! I never felt that our family was "complete" and that feeling never went away. Plus, I always wanted to be the mother of a little girl! We have enough testosterone in the house with a hubby and two sons! I would run into elderly women who would look at my two boys and say, "I had sons myself, but I always wanted a girl." I did not want to be that person in 40 years! In addition, I am a high risk candidate for pregnancy and I didn't want to risk my health or the baby's by becoming pregnant again.

We sponsor a boy in Colombia and love him very much. We then felt a calling to adopt a son.

We have 2 boys and I would like to have a girl. I just didn't feel the need to have another biological child and adoption has always felt "right" to me.

We have a boy and girl, our hearts were open to another child so we are going for it. I couldn't have hoped for a better match. He's wonderful.

I have one boy and one girl. DH and I thought we were done, and several years went by. Now it's boring with two - too the toddler/baby stage. We can't have any more children, so we're adopting.

Looks like some of my post was deleted. What I meant to say was that it's too boring with two. We miss the fun and craziness of the baby/toddler stage.

We have two boys and I always wanted a girl. I suppose I could have given birth again , but I am in my early 40's and would increase the risk of something wrong with the baby, increase my risk for breast cancer at this age, and I was horribly sick through both prior prgnancies. I had been thinking about adoption for 4 years and it really felt "right" to me. I liked the idea of completing my family with a girl and helping some child who didn't have a family. We chose to adopt a toddler because we have an active family and I thought it might be nice to skip the early baby stages and go straight to a stage where she participate in our activities. I love babies but I have been there and done that so didn't have the strong urge that most people have to get an infant. We brought our daughter home 8 weeks ago and I have to say that she is a perfect fit. No regrets.

We were hemming and hawing about a third child. Once we decided we were ready for the third, we began to feel a tug on our hearts for the orphaned children of the world. We prayed about it and researched for several months and finally felt called to adopt a baby girl from Guatemala! What a joy it was to get Arianna's referral! Now we wait for the process to start

My husband and I had talked about adopting from the time we were dating. We had it on our hearts then and always knew we would. We have a bio son and daughter and were led to our daughter in Guatemala!! The Lord was so gracious to us and we are so thankful for our angel! Ali

Actually, we had three bio kids when we adopted our son from Guatemala. Fortunately for us, fertility had not been a problem. In fact, for five years I thought we were done having children.

Then, I began to feel a calling that I believe was God tugging at my heart, to adopt a child who needed a loving family--partly, I think, because we had so many resources ourselves, and partly because I believe that each human life is of infinite worth, created by God.

I had been pro-life for a number of years, but over a period of time I came to understand that being pro-life for me could not end at trying to prevent abortions--I had to become part of the solution by being willing to take in a child whose mother had chosen life for him or her, but who was unable to raise that child.

Having adopted Joseph two years ago, I have to say that the blessings have been totally ours! Our life is so much richer and fuller than it would have been without him. In fact, we are in the process of going back to adopt another baby, a 10 month old with some special needs.

Thank you all for sharing your stories on this forum.

Carolyn
