Our DNA was pretty fast...6 months seems like a long time to wait. Has your agency explained why? Sorry for the delay!

Ours took 2 months for DNA approval and then 2 more months for the birthmom to come in and have the dna taken. It really slowed our adoption down. But it did happen, so just hang in there. I hope you get it soon!!!

We have been waiting since April. It took 2 months for authorization and it's been 4 months since then. We are within days of beginning abandonment. What is your agency saying? In our case, we have an uncooperative birthmom and a dangerous situation, so we are left with no other options. But I do know of cases where it just takes the birthmom a long time to get time off work and get into Guatemala City. Let us know of any developments, please.

Thanks for the input. We are getting little information from our agency. They just keep saying the attorney is working on it. We are wondering how long we wait before we move on. This is rough.

I hope you hear somthing soon. I got mine done in Sept. I signed POA in May. The consulet sorry for the spelling but they lost our birth moms id with all her info on how to get in touch with her. They got a privet investigater and they finaly found her. She was in mexico working and she did cross the boarder to sign and to do the dna. She did sign for them to sign for her from here on out. So she doesnt have to come back. SO it is not normal at all for you to wait this long. You agency and the atorney needs to fill you in on what is really going on. When I went for a visit I got my aternys phone #. So if I want to know somthing I go right to him. Now there is no middle delay to know whats up. I really hope things turn around for you and I will say a prayer for you as well. Take care. Kim

Sorry to say, but 6 months is ridiculous. Maybe you should contact AS.. and find out what is REALLY going on.
It ticks me off to say the least that agencies don't care to put any pressure on these attorney's to get things done. There is no reason for this to go on for 6 months.

I absolutely agree with GuatMommy2Be. You need to find out what it going on. It does NOT take six months for an attorney to do DNA - even with the slowdown and pickiness right now at the embassy (and your case started well before all that).

My suggestion to you is to contact the Embassy in Guatemala and find out if the I 600 has been submitted for DNA. This very same situation happened to us. We sat for 5 months before the I600 was submitted. Our agency told us that it had been submitted and it was the Embassy's fault for not being quick to order the DNA test. We went through our congressmen's office and they inquired on our behalf. We just returned home with our daughter and were amazed at how efficient the Embassy visa appt went. You just may find out that it isn't the Embassy that is slow....its the facilitator or attorney that is slow at submitting the I600.
Good luck! Michelle

Thanks guys. Our attorney has not even submitted it yet. I just got an email from my agency that said we needed to retype the request for DNA form again.
I think it may be time to contact Adoption Supervisors. Can someone pm me with their cintact info? Thanks |
