Have you ever heard of this happening at the end of your adoption?

I am very distressed. This week we were told we were being submitted for pink on Monday and so of course we were so excited for Wed. to come. Well it has now been four days and we are told that our facilitator has "disappeared" for all four days she has not been able to get a hold of her or anyone to find out her whereabouts and she is trying to figure out anything she can. She does not know where our paperwork is or if "she is out of the country", etc. What should we do? I am worried about the facilitator. I think something may have happened to her or worse yet our baby. How could she just leave the country without telling our agency. Where is our paperwork!!!! I am so upset right now. We have gone through so much and we are so close but yet now I have this fear that what happens if paperwork is stolen by someone? What do we do? Do we have to start all over again? Has anyone ever heard of this happening to someone?

No advice or experience with this. Just wanted to say I'm sorry - I can't imagine how you must be feeling. Hope it is resolved quickly.

Never heard of that...but I have a suggestion ... I think I know what I would do in your shoes. Email the embassy to find out if you have pink. And, email the attorney directly to find out what's going on. If you still have your pre-apporval email from the embassy, the attorney was probably copied on that email and you could get the email address from there.

Good luck...how frustrating this has to be for you.

I am very sorry. I was told by my agency that they could not get in touch with my attorney/facilator for 12+ days! Did I believe it? NO! Yes, it was at the end.

I will keep you in my prayers.I pray things get worked out ASAP!

I think calling or emailing embassy to see if you have pink is a great idea. If you do have pink, you can ask your agency if you can hook up with another facilitator when you get to Guatemala who can help you through the process.
Our attorney kicked our facilitator off our adoption case with our first adoption. We didn't know this until we were in Guatemala for a visit trip which turned out to be a pick up trip. Anyway, we hooked up with another facilitator from another agency just by chance and she helped us through the embassy process.
Hope that helps and hope you get some answers soon!

I don't want to scare you, but we were submitted for pink with our first adoption and waited for weeks and weeks. After realizing it wasn't normal to wait that long for pink, I confronted our agency and they confronted the attorney. We found out that the ** had taken our daughter from the foster home after the final sign off, and the new bc and passports were in our name. She was never found. This is really rare, but it did happen to us. I hope you hear from your facilitator soon, and receive pink. I really don't think anything like my situation has happened before, or will again. I'll pray for you.

Hello there - definately try to reach the lawyer direct. My facilitator (and agency) turned out to be questionable and I handled almost the entire process direct with the lawyer. Hope this helps.
