Hi all,
Has anyone had any experience adopting from Guat. while adopting from China? We're going to send our I600A in for China adoption next wk., but we'd also like to pursue a Guatemalan adoption. I'd appreciate any input on this! Also, please email me if you would like to recommend good agencies--we are checking out 3 or 4, and I'd love some info on good/bad ones! Thanks so much, Becca ![]() |

All I know about adoptions from China is that the wait for a match can take a very long time. We have a few friends that are STILL waiting and have BEEN waiting for over a year for their match from China. We are not old enough to adopt from China so it wasn't an option for us. GOod luck in your decision and I hope someone can offer some good advice. I know our agency does both Guatemalan AND China adoptions.
Hugs

I don't think China will let you pursue another adoption while working on a Chinese adoption.. I could be wrong, but I know a lot of the agencies that deal with China will terminate your process if you get pregnant, so I would think a second adoption would be the same.. Someone feel free to jump in here if I'm wrong...

We were in process with our Guatemala adoption when we started our dossier to China. At the time, we were uncertain how long our adoption from Guatemala would take so we started our second adoption.
Yes, we had a 171H for Guatemala and and 171H for China at the same time. There are some things to keep in mind. Per China's rules, we could not receive our Chinese daughter until at least a year after our Guatemala daughter arrived. It worked out just fine as we received our Chinese daughter 14 months after receiving our Guatemala daughter.

It has been a couple years now so maybe things have changed but good friends of mine completed a Chinese and Russian adoption on top of each other-- literally, their p/u trips were only a couple weeks apart (not planned that way but during process one country slowed and the other picked up pace). The children were also three years apart so maybe that made a difference as well.
