I'm curious, because some people think that we shouldn't be bring in another baby because we have such active lifestyle, and our children right now are almost 10 years apart.
Rene (DH) is 35 I'm 34 Cheyenne our daughter is 12 Tristan is 2 But I on the other hand am having the time of my life...I enjoy my children so much, Its funny because with Tristan I'm not as stressed as I was with Cheyenne when she was little. We love to go camping, we travel alot & love taking the kidos with us. Some people think that us starting all over would just weigh us down. (I don't think so). What do you think???? |

Your life is what you make of it.
We have 4 ages 11, 9, almost 7, and 3. We were actually back to hiking 4 weeks after our 4th was born. Didn't slow us down a bit (however that wasn't a wise thing to do 4 weeks postpartum..I paid for that one ha ha). If anything it has sped us UP because we do more now because of our kids than we ever did before. Each of our children are different and enjoy different activities which means we experience more and do more than we would have. Now it would be very easy to slow down with more children, but again it's all what you make of it. Just a little extra planning needs to go into it with more children and that's it. ![]()

Yeah, I agree with Kelly, none of the kids no matter what the age ever slowed us down. When dd was 18 months we drove 27 hours out to Yellowstone and camped for 10 days, and then drove back. We just don't let their ages (or our ages) stop us.
DH is 33 I am 28 ds is 7 ds is 5 dd is 3.5 guatemalan princess is 9 mos (but not home yet, of course)

DH is 36, I am 33 and our bio. son will be 7 in February.
As far as others worrying that you are doing the right thing. Don't worry about it. Do what is best for your family. My cousin and her 2nd husband wanted a child together, but since they both already had 4 children between them ages 13, 12, 11 and 8 they were not sure it was a good idea. They decided that they would never regret having another child, but may regret NOT having a child down the road. They did have a son who was born March 2006. He is the light of their lives. They are all so happy. The older kids love him. She is also so much more comfortable with him then when her other kids were younger. They are really enjoying him. By the way- we she mentioned they were thinking of having another we all thought they were nuts! Me included, and look how wonderful it turned out!

I am 42, dh is 45, and our children are 17 (in college), 13, 11 (in middle school) and 2 1/2. Our son that we are adopting will be one in December. For us the big transition was going back to having a toddler after 9 years--and it was some culture shock! But we adjusted--we had also forgotten how cute and funny small children were, how loving and affectionate, and how refreshing it is to see the world through new eyes.
I think now that we have taken the plunge once, it won't be as tough the second time--we're still doing diapers and pull ups and car seats and booster seats, etc. Good luck to you!

We will have a wide age range in our kids, but I think that is kind of neat. My oldest soon to be 12 year old daughter is going to love taking care of her baby sister. And my sweet 8 year old boy secretly can't wait to love on her too.

I am 39 and holding (ugh!), and my DH is 35. Our son we are adopting is our first child. I chose to wait to get married until I was older. (35) So we are starting a family when most or our friends kids will be old enough to babysit!! For myself though, I feel that I wasn't ready to be a mom until just recently.

I think people should mind their own business!
The dynamics of YOUR family is YOUR family's business! I had a friend who had five daughters. Their sixth child was a boy, and she received CONTINUOUS comments like, 'You finally got your boy, now you can quit.' So, she got pregnant again because it upset her that people thought she hadn't been happy with the five girls and was just 'trying' to have a boy.. She and her husband are awesome parents and have wonderful children.. They've kinda been my inspiration!I am 40, and my husband will be 43 the end of this month. We have six children, and their ages are 20, 18, 13, 10, 1, and 4 weeks. Having a lot of children hasn't slowed us down one bit! It's actually easier with having older children to help take care of Bryce. We travel a lot too... We were in Alaska in July, Ohio in Sept, and I just returned from Chicago with the girls while my husband took the boys to Argentina. We have tried to work these trips around school, but that's not always easy. One of my husband's requests on adopting again was that it didn't slow down our lifestyle. So, we are going to start homeschooling next year and do even MORE traveling.. People have made comments to us about being too old and having too many children, but we know what is in our hearts..

Kelly ~~ your family sounds a lot like mine. We have 4 kiddos at home... Grady 11, Jorden 9, Carsynne (only girl) 6, and Ty 2. We are adopting 2 little girls.. Reyna 4.5 yrs and Maizee 2 months.
I am 36 and hubby is 37. I love having all the kids around and the different stages at the same time. Yes, some people have made comments about having a baby at the same time the oldest is in middle school. And how they won't be close b/c of the age span. But it all works out for us. I think part of it is that we all go to most functions and activities as a family. All the kids share in each others fun, sorrows, etc. It would be different if they hardly ever saw each other and didn't "get to know" their siblings.

I really don't think other people have a right to tell you what is right and wrong when it comes to your family, you gotta do what is right for you.
DH is 36 I'm 32 and we're adopting our first child now, Lucas is 4 months old tomorrow Of course not home yet, but we're hoping we start seeing some movement soon!
