Question Radisson or Crowne Plaza (xpost)

Since there is limited availability at the Marriott and Westin, we are thinking about staying at the Radisson or the Crowne Plaza in GC for our visit trip next month. Both have suites which are very desirable since we'll be travelling with our daughter who will be 2 yo. Has anyone stayed there who could give us feedback (via PM, of course)? TIA,
Janet

I stayed at the Radisson for Pickup. The suites are great, and have a kitchenette with a fridge and microwave. The hotel provided us with a crib, stroller and baby bath tub. There were a few other adoptive families there. They have a roomy playroom on the 6th floor. No pool. Half of the equipment in the fitness room doesn't work (but the other half does). They have a Sushi restaurant and a regular restaurant. Both were fine (not great, but fine). The staff was all very friendly to us and our baby. We enjoyed our stay there.

Crowne Plaza is not very fancy but the rooms were clean and tidy and the staff were good.
The restaurant is excellent with great food and staff...better than most places in Seattle. Waiters were just absolutely fantastic...really nice guys ( although frustrated and displeased with the the Americans who barely used please and thankyou, were rude and abrupt and allowed their "free range" children to run amuck in the restaurant, eating with their fingers etc etc....all very embarrasing)
We would go back just for the restaurant and staff!
Couple of nice places nearby but would not recommend walking more than a block away from the hotel. Our agency was paranoid about people leaving the hotel but it was Ok within a block or so.
Hotel also has internet access but you will need to ask where the "@" key is on the keyboard!

I second EJ's reply, we actually stayed there (along with every other hotel in Guatemala, it seems), & the Suite was very nice, when you walk in there is the living room & next to that is the kitchenette with a small microwave, bottle warmers, snacks & all of your dishes, barstool type setup, then you have a decent size bathroom with a tub & yes they will bring you all of your enemities for the baby, crib, bath baby soaps etc....
Then the room off of that is the "Master Bedroom"......, 1 King or 2 Queen I believe they have.
Lots of closet space, ironing board. TV in bedroom.
It was very clean & the staff was fabulous & they had the baby playroom as well.
Internet Service was avail on every floor for $1 an hr & they also had a lounge in the lobby where there was interent service as well.
All the staff spoke English very well. Food was decent, buffet breakfast, not top of the line by any means, but for $75 per night you can't go wrong, @ least that's the rate we got last yr.

On the flip side, the only complaint we had other than no pool, was THE NOISE, ughhh, they like their music to dance & have a great time until the wee hrs, so do I , don't get me wrong, but we weren't in the partying mood on either our visit or pu trip !. We did have to change rooms to be higher up one time, but it's mostly on the wknds, & again that's when most of us go there. If you're a light sleeper like myself, just warning you, take earplugs.
Other than that I would definitely stay there again, there were other adoptive families there as well that we met.

Good Luck !

Janet - we stayed at the Radisson for our visit trip in February of 2005. The staff was excellent. THere is a "standard" restaurant upstairs and what was a bar but not is a SUshi bar downstairs. They have great coffee.

The suite was nice, but didn't do us much good. Andrew would not sleep in the crib (he wouldn't sleep at all ), so the baby's room was wasted space. Our room was really, really small with a full sized bed . It was impossible to sleep in that small of a bed, with the disco going outside. I could hear, word by word, the lyrics to the songs at the disco. It was awful. DH took the padding off the chairs and slept on the floor. The bed was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept on.

There isn't much of a lobby at the Radisson- about the size of Champions restaurant in the Marriott - so not alot of space to walk the baby around. There is also no outside area to walk with the baby that is connecetd to the hotel. So, if you are not able to leave the hotel there is NOWHERE to go outside with the baby. Our room did have a balcony that was good sized (only entry through the baby's room) but it was underconstruction while we were there..........

The hotel was nice, but not alot to do there. We saw 2 or 3 other adoptive families while we were there. THere were 2 shops and a very small gift shop. It would certainly suffice, but it isn't as comfortable as the Marriott.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any specific questions.
