I am truly heartbroken for you and your family. I know you are meant to be a mom, and you will be. I hope you can find the strength to keep moving forward.

Laura, my husband and I are in our early fifties and have three adopted children. I thought we wre through when we adopted our now 8 year old from Russia, when we were in our forties. Some friend wre adopting and it just came over me that we could and should adopt one more child. WE have now been waiting 10 painful weeks for a referral of a girl. Please do not give up your dream. Age is largely irrelevant to being a mother and also for caring for a child. Follow your heart if youcan to continue parenting this child from afar while you work thru the tangle of abandonment - others have done it and hopefully will post on ths board. If you can do another referral, as painful and difficult as that leap of faith will be, then you should. I hope we bring you comfort rather than pain with our words - as they are meant from one mother's heart to another

I'm so sorry. I'm right there with you. Don't give up hope. God is VERY big and He loves you VERY MUCH. He's not going to let go of us in the darkness. I am praying for you. I'll PM you. We have A LOT in common.

I'm sorry that you and your family are going through this right now. It's terrible to keep this little girl in such limbo, although the birth mother is a little girl herself.

I hope that you do not give up...Things happen that are out of our control.

As I read your post my heart breaks for your whole family .
It ALWAYS makes me so sad to hear any mother say maybe she wasn't meant to be a Mom.
I just don't believe that .
I will pray God gets your precious daughter home to you sooner than later.

I feel so badly for you. As I read the posts most evenings, you are always so supportive, positive, and caring. I really hope you don't give up on adoption -- we are in our 40s too, waiting for our first child, and I can tell you would be a blessing to any child who needed a forever family. My prayers are with you and I hope you find some extra strength from those in the forum ...

I have no magic soothing words for this extremely difficult and painful situation - just a lot of wishes and prayers for you to find the right path for your family (whatever that may be) and wishes and prayers for Sabrina's future.

I too, was facing a difficult adoption, am in my forties- first child for me and my husband. Same issues as you, about miscarriages, etc...
Don't give up- she is yours- you feel it! She will be yours- just keep the faith- even if it is so hard.
Our son is home over a year now, and we thought it would never happen. We are blessed, and you will be too.
Maybe god has it in his plan for you to have two children- maybe the new referall will just add to your family, while you await your baby girl.
Will pray for you to have peace and bring your baby home faster than you thought!

Larue, my heart breaks for you and your situation.

But someone as caring and insightful as you is exactly what is needed to be a good parent - please don't give up on that - you deserve it!

I will pray for you, your family and Sabrina often. We are all here for you to lift you up and give you strength.
