Date of Adoption Deed

I am going through my paperwork for our pick-up trip, yea!!!! We found out that we had exited PGN on October 9th but the paperwork says that the Issuance of the Adoption Deed was October 10th. It also states that as of this date (Oct 10) our DD is legally ours. I thought she wasn't legally ours until the birthmother signed off. Does the October 10th date mean that the birth mother has already signed off? It's sad when I can get lots more info from the forum than from my agency.

TIA for any help you can give

I know that in many cases (ours included) the lawyers have the birth mother sign a Power of Attorney to sign the final decree after the DNA and Social Work Interview. Then only the lawyer has to sign for the birth mom to finalize. Given that expediency, perhaps that's what happened.

That is correct that the adoption is not final until the birthmother signs off for the fourth and final time. It could be that she did sign off the day after you exited, or as drasusi said, there could be a POA for the birthmother involved.
