Hi Mimi, welcome to the board! When you receive a pm it'll show up in the box near the right side of the screen. mine's a faint blue, but don't know if everyone's is. It says Welcome, and then your username; when you last visited; and then Private Messages: Unread, Total. You should be able to click on Private Messages and it'll take you to your inbox.
To send a PM, you click on the persons username and there is a link for sending PM's. Good luck!
