Hey everybody.... I need some help with my 14 month old she seems to have quite the TEMPER.... I try to ignore her but it just seems to make it escalate.It makes me feel so bad when she gets her self so upset she can't stop crying.

If she doesn't get her way sometimes she walks off stomping...Throws herself in the floor crying and kicking....

I know she is still a baby but...how do I appropriately approach this. It breaks my heart to get on to her... I feel that is all I do now.

the premise of 123 magic is trying to non-emotional. if you can muster it ...it works! keeping a calm spirit teaches the child that you are a strong, emotionaly safe person to be trusted. kids usually have tantrums and other emotional behavior because they are lacking in language and trying to get something from you.

Love & Logic the Early Years is a priceless resource for me. I finally read it when #5 homegrown was 9 months old. What is says really makes sense. It helps so much when you run into conflicts with your children. I feel empowered as a parent after finally taking the time to read it!!! It gives ways to resolve conflict with anger ( they really do work--especially with my 3 yr. old!)

Remeber, sometimes it seems like children push limits to get some control over their lives--even when they are so little! They want you to know they are a real thinking little person(and don't under estimate the struggle they have of trying to get control over their little body). Try giving her some choices that she can make--reinforce that she is capable of some things. I personally think that children hit little difficult phase every other month or so, and then you guys work it through and have some more really good times. It is so hard to tell them no, but it is an investment in the future--We all have to know that NO is a real reality in life.

Also, Sleep. It took me a long while to catch on to how much sleep little ones need. When I finally decided to put my 3 little ones (all under 3) to bed at 7pm. It took a while to make this transition but once I finally committede and made it #1 PRIORITY--no matter what. We had a huge turn around in our home and lives--it was great for all of us!
