Marriott Pool

We just received our DNA results, are anxious to visit, and was wondering if anyone knows when the Marriott pool is supposed to be back up and running? Do any of the other hotels have pools? I have a 2.5 year old to entertain!

Hi Brenda! We LOVED the Marriott too. But decided to switch hotels on this trip because of the pool renovation action. We're going to the Westin in a few weeks for visit trip #2. I have heard wonderful things about the Westin. Well - except don't drink diet Coke with ice. Sorry Mandy

Have a great visit trip!

They say it will be up and running at the end of October but WHO knows. I will miss it this visit trip but we loved the Marriott and didn't want to stay somewhere else.

We are at the Marriott right now. Here's a picture of what the "pool" looks like.

I would say it's not going to be done by the end of October.

Another point on the pool- we came back early last week from the Marriott. We had a room in the new tower that overlooked the pool . During the day they haul the debris into a side alley area to the left hand side of the pool. At night, a truck comes to haul out the debris. There were a couple of nights where this was pretty noisy until about 10:30 p.m. I would recommend asking for rooms that do not face the pool if you are planning to stay there soon. Other than that minor issue, we LOVED the Marriott.

We chose to stay at the Westin just for the pool and we just got back from our pick up trip. The pool is wonderful: its big enough to use for lap swimming and there is a smaller swallow section for younger children. It was warm and wonderful swimming weather. Don't be discourged if you check weather.com and see it is going to rain. It is tropical and seemed to rain breify every day. The pool was not very crowded as I think the local people thought it might be too cool.
The Westin was interesting as I believe this is the VIP hotel so it was very very safe. When we were there the President of Mexico was staying there and there were guards/guns and metal detectors.
The family floor is friendly and even if you don't stay on that floor get the card for the playroom and you can talk with other families (We stayed in a junior suite on the 3rd floor-more expensive but we liked the space-myDH had internet work to do)

We are currently at the Marriott right now, and the health club staff verified that the pool is closed at least until December 1st. It is serious work that is being done. They are adding a large, rectangular, multi-person hot tub. It looks like there is going to be a shallow area for kiddies and steps leading from there into the main pool. When it is done, it looks like it will be really nice.

I posted in a previous message in a different thread that Champion's Sports Bar was closed. It was closed due to a water leak, but it has since reopened.

The westin has a pool with a shallow area for kids that is sectioned off from the rest of the pool (kind of like a kiddie pool) and also a hot tub that is pretty big. But like Laura said, stay away from the ice!
